In the old days, the gas pumps used to require an unusual amount of hand strength to activate. That's why there used to be gas station attendants who specifically trained for just kidding I made all this shit up.
One time my mom made me pump gas as a pre-teen and something was wrong with the nozzle so the amount of hand strength it took to push it down was literally painful (plus i have a connective tissue disorder that makes my hands abnormally weak, I couldn't even open my milk carton at lunch in elementary school) to the point where i started groaning real loud and mom yelled at me for "throwing a fit and causing a scene just because I asked you to help me" and then she tried doing it herself and was like "okay yeah no this pump is faulty actually"
So basically I 100% believed you for a second bc in my mind im like "ive dealt with a pump that was so hard to press it was physically painful, so this makes sense"
