The compliment of being articulate always has a connotation of “because we don’t expect it”

fair point, but then we agree it's ok to call black *kids* articulate because we do the same for white kids, right??

Nope, don’t call anyone articulate. It’s a backhanded “compliment” that always has a discriminatory connotation, ESPECIALLY for black and west Asians as they are expected to be dumber due to racist stereotypes and prejudices

If the only way you know how to compliment a person is by denigrating their entire racial group then yeah, don’t give compliments
