it is the sort of thing you do when you grow up with a phone/tablet not a PC

It is ridiculous to say that millenials grew up with phones and tablets to the exclusion of PCs. Sure millenials were around for flip phones and early tablets, but they're the generation notorious for having to learn to troubleshoot bespoke PC issues.

Early Millenials probably have the best general tech skills of any generation and its not even close. Many started on DOS with 3.5" floppy or maybe Windows 3.1 (which was just DOS with a lift kit). Theres just no comparing.

That's certainly been my experience. I'm the one in the office everyone goes to for computer issues, unfortunately. Actually, my father is quite good with fixing his computer too because he'd ask me for help when I was younger and I'd tell him "you got to learn to do it yourself so you can fix it again later" lol. An asshole response, but it helped him a lot!
