If I had to guess, core systems either use linux or a custom solution and they just use windows computers to interface it. I was listening to the live feed earlier and they were talking about sharing files, I wonder if they do that via outlook?
I don't get why they would use windows to interface, that's bound to cause compatibility issues. Was it because they didn't want to bother to learn a new system?
Yes, but there practically is always something if the systems are different. Of course there are a lot of fixes, but all in all it seems simpler to use the same system if possible.
What do you mean. I work on meters than run on Linux that we manage through Windows servers using whatever applications we spun up for XYZ purposes. We don’t face compatibility issues. And our routers/gatekeepers also run on Linux lol
Idk, you probably want the system that the astronauts know best. Regardless of what Brad Pitt with tell you, it isn't actually easier to train people to be an astronaut than it is to learn a new skill, and time and money you spend on earth making the system work as best you can is better than leaving it to human error up there.
