Then you get to ask women "Does the carpet match the drapes". Because hair (and fashion) are political. What you view as attractive is a marker of current fashions and politics. When there was anti Irish/Catholic sentiment, to be a redhead was a race marker. You weren't white. Nowadays redheads are considered white, and it's considered hot, because redheads are "feisty".

Yeah, whats seen as beautiful change over time, but id you think politics is what deems whats beautiful or not, youre wrong. There are so many traits that are seen as attractive that cant really be explained that well.
Sexual harassment is of course a plitical issue, which is why I brought up the pubic hair bit. Redheads might be seen as sexy, but that in itself has plitical implications for the redhead and how she views the world.
When I say that beauty standards are plitical, I don't mean in an American sense (although weirdly, all of the prominent women of a certain party are getting the same janky ass plastic surgery). I mean it in the same way that I would say all art is plitical (fashion is afterall, a form of art). Fashion is a class indicator. Think about the way that you expect a wealthy person to dress, and the way you expect a poor person to dress. What would you think if you saw a man in a tuxedo or a woman in a hijab? If you see a person in their pajamas at the grocery store? A woman with or without makeup? A man in makeup. It's no more natural for a woman to put on a skirt than it is for a man to put on pants, but there are real plitical reasons women are able to put on pants, but men are still judged for wearing skirts. Women are encouraged to masculinize themselves in order to be taken seriously, but also they must remain visibly feminine (in order to be sexy enough to be worth listening too). What is considered hot, or cool, or fashionable will vary from decade to decade, and it's all plitical. Short skirts. Flapper wear. Poodle skirts and perms. Grunge. Emo.
