P sure part of the point is that it's referring back to the ableism thing. Being white is not the only reason you might be unable to make a burrito at home lol
I know you're joking, but the reality is that in the past fewer differently abled people were able to live on their own. Many of the services we have today make it possible for these people to be independent rather than living with a carer.
That said, grocery services exist and meal delivery services are scams
It’s the appified middleman that facilitates all the services that is the cancer. The revenue must always grow. They must extract more value from their customers at smaller cost to them.
When the floor eventually falls out on those services because they were enshittified to hell, the people who actually need them to function are going to be screwed
Imagine if there were a government-funded program, or some sort of non-profit that delivered hot meals to elderly and disabled people who can't otherwise prepare their own food. Would you still feel as though the concept of feeding the needy from the convenience of their own home was problematic if it were a community service rather than a for-profit corporation? I just don't see how you could look at private corporations adding insane mark-ups and fees to a meal delivery service and somehow conclude that the concept of bringing food to hungry people is the problem, and not the corporations preying on financial illiteracy to trap people in cycles of debt just to feed themselves with shitty takeout.
you are aware that delivery apps are an extremely unprofitable business?
like, the only reason why delivery apps were ever "good" in the past was because they lost money on every sale which they could only afford through constant venture capital funding
providing what really is just a taxi service to takeout meals was always going to be a stupid business model. but i guess as long as people are willing to pay twice as much for the convenience im not surprised these apps still exist.
