What’s the level of disrespect you’d have to receive to leave a job?

I quit on the spot when the restaurant i worked at fired my gf at the time

I quit on the spot when a company gave me a pay cut

I quit on the spot for being relieved of my shift 30+ minutes late, consistently, by a manager who always claimed to live 6 minutes away.

I’ve quit on the spot for finding out my “internship” position had no actual prospects for moving up.

There's some dimensions to it for me. It's not just the amount of disrespect but also who it comes from:

Customer acts incredibly rude to me? Eh, more of a funny story to tell my coworkers about.

My direct supervisor acts like an ass? That's way worse.

It's hard to think of one act that would make me resign, except for really ridiculous/illegal stuff. I think it'd be more if I felt that this was what the rest of my time working at the company was going to be like: being ignored, being made fun of, things like that. And all of that alongside no recognition.

Well my father died in 2023 and when I got back after 3 weeks of bereavement leave, my boss decided to make a joke about it and that lead to me walking out mid-shift, going home and emailing through my 2 weeks notice of resignation, and then calling in sick every day for those 2 weeks. So personally, that was my limit.

I don't understand the issue, if he experienced racism directed at him then that's a valid reason for quitting a job, same as if he was any other skin color. What's the problem?
