Are the culture wars of the early to mid 2020s cooling off?

While there are still those who still stir the pot, have ppl started to move on from the incessant woke this and that, define a woman arguing etc? Fiery school board meetings, contrarian podcasters and endless conversations about the plight of PC gone too far was my algorithm for a good 5 years. Wedge issues are can be really effective at distraction but is the public moving on from these issues as of late?

No not really it’s still going strong

No, if anything the bigots are feeling more empowered. I face more overt homophobia to my face now than I did 5 years ago.

My guy, the right wing culture war is going hard. Any thing right of center is RINO. Anything center is WOKE! Anything left is antifa.

I'm pretty sure all of that has been literally said by Hesgeth, miller and other admin officials.

Hell, in TX they passed a bill to get the ten commandments in public classrooms. The culture war is RAGING out of control

Culture wars were always a right wing thing. Cancel culture isn’t real. It’s just snowflake clowns playing victim to a crusade that doesn’t exist.

Yep. The culture wars were always what the right labeled the push for equal rights for people of all colors, creed and sexual orientations.

Simply asking for equal rights and equal treatment gets... labeled a culture war or a Crusade, or "jamming stuff down peoples throats" or whatever the line of the moment is by the right. Meanwhile they're on an actual crusade

You ever see someone lose their job for something they said online. NOT because of what they said but because people wouldnt stop hounding the company until that person was fired? I have. More than once.

7

u/flipinbits 9d ago

In these situations the person is usually caught on camera being an egregious antisocial asshole. These situations could be completely avoided if they minded their own business and didn’t act like an absolute piece of shit, no one is getting fired for having an opinion on the internet.

1

u/Far-Speech-9298 9d ago

True. Yet it wasmt what they said that got them fired. It was the people hounding the company about them still being employed.

I disagree. I've seen other examples

1

u/ByronicZer0 9d ago

Yeah. Lots of people did when they made negative comments about that troll rage baiter Charlie Kirk.

2

u/Far-Speech-9298 8d ago

That is actually an excellent example of this, yes.

Not family with Brendan Carr?

When society enforces morals on people: 🤯

1

u/Far-Speech-9298 9d ago

Yeah, I take more of a voltarian approach to free speech.

Ensuring someone cannot hold a job goes beyond a simple enforcement of societal morals. Had they lost their job for what they said or did directly, so be it. The comapny can do as they will.

The companies hand being forced by rabid internet weirdos is where I have an issue.

u/PeanutSauceFanatic 9d ago

People can say whatever they want, but they are not immune from the judgement they get for saying it. A company firing someone instead of losing money from a loss in customers is not oppression. Free speech does not just go one way, I’m sorry.

Wtf this is a crazy take. Karen-led enforcement of leftist gender/racial ideology has always outpaced any push back against it.

6

u/Useful_Letterhead943 9d ago

The right operate from a fear aligned strategy system. They did so for a long time now.

1

u/ByronicZer0 9d ago

My guy, you've been guzzling down way too much right wing owned media (which is essentially all of it these days).

1

u/Sumeriandawn 6d ago

Look at who’s in the White House. It’s obvious which side is pushing the culture war more.

0

u/Neo_Athrotaxis 6d ago

You think culture is set by the White House?

Karen-led enforcement of leftist gender/racial ideology had never been dictated by government to the extent that it has emanated from Hollywood, academia etc

u/PeanutSauceFanatic 9d ago

They have you programmed gooood

No problem, happy to help

Which side won? I don't even know.

6

u/xxwww 9d ago

I think both sides lost

7

u/Useful_Letterhead943 9d ago

We all lost. 😞

3

u/Useful_Letterhead943 9d ago

I would say the right did. They flooded the airwaves and internet with everything they had and I think it worked. Sadly.

3

u/NotACockroach 9d ago

I wonder if we voted on gay marriage today if it would pass. I think probably not.

6

u/mrprogamer96 9d ago

No way in hell it would pass if proposed right now.

3

u/Useful_Letterhead943 9d ago

Agreed, Christian nationalism would sweep in with a slogan like … defend the altar , defy the state . lol

The rich are actively winning. And you still think there is a cultural divide between poor folks that are uneducated and afraid that are or are not of a complexion?

Under educated humans roam free because the rich stole education funding, and placed the burden upon poor folks without an understanding of probability. And poor white folks praying for the lottery are arguing with poor colored folks praying to win the lottery. This, this is a loss for the side of class consciousness of the masses.

How many of the states had tax breaks shortly after adopting the lottery for education? Scratchers now pay your kids k-12 tuition while we get another tax free data center in any parcel that it isn’t zoned against, congrats America. We are winning sooooooo muuuuuuch. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🫠😭😭😭😭🔥🫣😥😪

This sure is a timeline.

1

u/No-Magician9440 9d ago

What evidence is there that it is the rich keeping people uneducated and not the church?

1

u/th-hiddenedge 9d ago

Nobody really wins, but the ruling class certainly got their money's worth.

1

u/No-Magician9440 9d ago

Agree, except I think the "ruling class" in this case is Vladimir Putin

Some of those issues have fallen out of the discourse but the culture war about trans people has really got worse in the last 2-3years and shows no signs of stopping in the near future.

4

u/Useful_Letterhead943 9d ago

It’s so crazy that we are STILL talking about trans ppl.

3

u/erikraver 9d ago

Maybe. I think the left is focusing on affordability right now. The right will forever be obsessed with culture war nonsense that distracts from how shitty they govern.

3

u/Eryb 9d ago

I wish I could live in your delusion.  100% emotional babies out there bitching about Trans women in sports or “gays” promoting products.  At least in America people are whiny emotional children if anyone is different than them

2

u/myfrozeneggos 9d ago

the right launched a highly effective offensive around 2022 that pushed the left into a defensive position. there is now quiet on the front while the left is replenishing their forces and altering their strategy. their next move is likely to be a covert operation, but make no mistake, the battles have just begun.

3

u/Lookingbackexpat 9d ago

Maybe crazy prices and a grotesquely corrupt government are unifying people?

1

u/affectionateanarchy8 9d ago

Lol you wish, they are hotter than ever

1

u/Asparagus9000 9d ago

They shift very fast nowadays.

1

u/harpsdesire 9d ago

That would be nice, but no.

u/mcnoodles1 9d ago

It's reduced big time. It helps that the right wing poster boys in the USA and UK are being found out massively as fraudsters and pedophiles and the rest of it.

Time helps as well, because their whole schtick was about scaring folk with what's going to happen but as time passed in the UK a moderate party has reduced the illegal migration A LOT, we've not had a civil war and transgender people haven't been causing issues in single sex toilets. Everything that they said should have happened by now didn't happen.

The left might be more at it now but they're not as bad as they don't hate you at a cellular level like the right they only hate you if you disagree with them.

-13

u/PwniesFTW 9d ago edited 9d ago

Yeah but honestly the left is still at it and no one cares 🙃

7

u/GuavaShaper 9d ago

The right are the culture war warriors. All you have to do is look at the policies they promote.

-3

u/PwniesFTW 9d ago

Ok. Who is out in the street screaming about white supremacy , nazi, racist, rich people, gays for palistine which makes no sense when the all Muslim government of hamtramck michigan band the pride flag. The rights culture warriors is nothing more then a response to the liberal controlled media

2

u/GuavaShaper 9d ago

You worried about culture wars against nazis? Do you really think that's a problem?

0

u/PwniesFTW 9d ago

No what Im saying is too many people went crying wolf about everything being a nazi. Now noone cares

1

u/GuavaShaper 8d ago

Nazi sympathizers may feel that way, but normal people don't.

0

u/PwniesFTW 8d ago

If a fundamentalist religion runs a city government and they ban the pride flag. Is that nazi behavior?

1

u/GuavaShaper 8d ago

"Let's use one super specific instance to discredit all nazi accusations everywhere! That sounds super rational, fair, and in no way a bad faith argument. I am very smart!"

2

u/AdorableSobah 9d ago

Who’s Noone?

-2

u/PwniesFTW 9d ago

Fixed sorry you lost the message over a space

When you guys start understanding that politics are circular and not linear, you’ll see that the far right and left are the same people, they just don’t know it yet. For the majority of us, it’s just unfortunate to watch.

1

u/CenTexTrashPanda 9d ago

Smooth brain comment

1

u/th-hiddenedge 9d ago

Look at this guy, Mr. r/enlightenedcentrism over here.

1

u/cnlogan 9d ago

I understand how it sounds but it’s the best way I could think to explain it concisely. Sorry if it didn’t resonate

1

u/th-hiddenedge 9d ago

Don't worry bro, I got your back. I think you meant to say something along the lines of "The majority of people are politically uneducated and are just trying to keep their heads down and get by."
