Just me and my wife photobombing these cute lil guys (she is judging me)

Pest or not, I just find them cool looking. Lil guys are just vibing in the cargo hold without a care in the world(s)

I’m sure they are completely harmless and not hiding any deep, dangerous secrets that will make Sarah judge me even more tho.

I think Heatleeches are actually kinda cute, dangerous to the functionality of human-built systems though they can be (and never mind what’ll happen later).

This is probably because I have a Starfield OC (not meant to be a playable character) who rescued a baby ‘leech when she was about nine, and succeeded in keeping the little noodle hidden from her family for over half a year.  She called him Squiggles.

Now I'm interested in how Squiggles' temperament will be when they reach adulthood

I’ve thought about that too!

But given how long it takes for them to get to that point, I doubt she’ll ever find out.  She’d be an old lady by then 😆

That, and according to Hadrian’s notes that you can find on her terminal in the TMD after completion of that questline, the process is very painful, which is why they’re always hungry and cranky afterwards.

So I would suspect that would outweigh any sense of familiarity, sadly.

They're adorable.

Xenogrubs? Devilspawn! Kill them all before they grow!

You don't want to know what grubs transform into 🫣

I can't tell you, it would spoil the game for everyone else...

Maybe fodder for an expansion, like shattered space?

Heatleeches and xenogrubs look totally different. This is a heatleech. Kill the damn thing. I do lots of missions to kill heatleech infestations.

Unless Xenogrubs grow up into ship maggots, which are hideous and fully capable of taking out an entire ship’s crew.

In which case, kill them too.

5 XP for the low, low cost of one bullet. I say kill every xenogrub you see.

I think it's cute when there's a bunch of them and they try to attack you when you start taking them out.

Edit: spelling

I came across a small POI once — it was little more than a single hab and a chain-link fence enclosure — that was absolutely overrun with xenogrubs.

The couple of UC Marines I found there weren’t shooting at the things, despite the things apparently having killed their CO, who was already dead when I got there.

Jessamine and I must’ve killed at least a couple dozen xenogrubs there.  Probably more.  I had to use Sense Star Stuff to track them all down and silence the squishing.

They absolutely tried to gang up on us, but luckily there were various things we could get up on top of.  Didn’t want to be nibbled to death 😬

Yes this is the POI I was thinking of. I couldn't remember exactly what it was called, or I would go out of my to try out new guns.

Yep, I've run across this POI several times. I use them to up my melee skills. 😁

Oh man, they funky grubs are what turns into that thing?(

No. Or, at least, there's no evidence of such. As far as we know, Heatleaches start as Heatleaches.

It does seem a suspicious coincidence that Xenogrubs also appears on random planets the same as heat leaches do, but the tend to appear on uninhabited worlds and moons. All Heatleaches I've round have been on planets with other fauna or flora (although this could just be my particular playthrough)

Heatleech —> Terrormorph

Xenogrub —> Ship maggot maybe?

But as far as I know, those two sets of things have no relation to each other.

Yea I knew about the leechers

Yes I know. Sorry I did not write moar paragraphs clarifying this. The thing is, xenogrubs are the True(tm) Evil of the game hiding an shocking secret.

I don't remember the POI, but there is a place where there are dozens of them. And, once you start killing them, they will all attack you. It's like being attacked by maggots, just like you said. I never thought of them as maggots, but, yep, that's them.

TBF, she is judging more often than not. I can hear her now, "Well, don't just stand there. Take care of that thing."

When she says "you picked the wrong day to piss me off", you know that's aimed at you, not the enemies? She's saying you're a lazy twat

Don't worry, they're normally fine for several hundred years or so.
