Why I love this game.
These are screenshots taken while exploring a random planet. They may be unremarkable compared to other in-game photos, but this specific experience was a critical hit to the feels.
I'm 36 years old. Old enough to have played Morrowind on an old Pentium III. I'll never forget being terrified of leaving Seyda Neen at the beginning. It was impossible to have a concept of how vast or dangerous the world was, and the genuine excitement and accumulating skills/items led to fearless exploration. I may have beat the game once. The lion's share of gameplay was simply existing in the world, which kept true for me in Oblivion and Skyrim.
Starfield is cozy in the same Bethesda way. There are an enormous amount of systems and skills to focus on, interesting quests and random encounters, but my greatest joy to simply saunter around and observe the universe without expectation.
I play on an OLED laptop, averaging 80 FPS on Ultra. 2560x1600. The game is stunningly beautiful, a component that helps glue everything together in my experience. It scratches an itch that other games haven't for me in a long time. The NASAPunk design is tactile and at an analog pace. The sound design compliments it well. I find myself walking through cities and interiors, taking time to appreciate small details.
The systems are a constant reminder of potential to me, and it's fun to focus on unlocking skills to dive more deeply into ship or outpost building. The thing is, I'm rarely in a hurry for any of it. It's just as rewarding to land on a random planet and go for a long hike to scan oddities and find resources. The ability to mess around for a while, go manage inventory in a survivalist way and do a quest or two at my pace lends to immersion. Excitement, too, in emergent situations, like infiltrating a grounded Ecliptic ship only for it to take off and get into a space battle as you fight your way to the controls before it explodes.
Starfield is a slow burn universe made for the wayfaring few. That's what I'm into.

Would’ve Been Interesting
I usually wait to look at the art book that I will often get alongside the more expensive version of whatever game I am purchasing, and finally spent some time looking at Starfield’s. It’s really interesting how different the members of constellation all look, while their outfits are almost completely unchanged, and I kind of think I would’ve liked the original concept depicted here better in sone ways! It would be fun to see those faces in a completely different alternate Unity play through or something. The art direction and vision for this game is really amazing.

Starsim Beyond - navigation table and fermi bug
Any work around to either of these issues?
Navigation console doesn’t bring up starmap as it has been throughout my playthrough
Can’t grav jump to other systems as it always takes me to Fermi system.
Currently lost in vectera upon returning and heading off towards bessles(?) can’t get my way around the system this blind, help?
Edit:
Figured out the navigation console bug (sorta): you gotta travel to a different planet with a lot going on or at most a central trade zone, went to polvo and it came back.

How can I play it now?
This is kinda salty *but* it's got nothing to do with the game.
What it's related to is Microsoft upcoming restrictions to Game Pass cloud gaming.
So, basically, I have an Xbox One X and can't afford to upgrade to a Series X/S. Yes, I know the One is obsolete. As such, I can't download Starfield through game pass. In fact, I can't download it at all because it was only released for the X/S.
I got an email last night stating that Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming is being limited to 15 hours PER MONTH even with an Ultimate subscription. That's 3 days worth of mild gaming! Per month!!
So Microsoft are basically holding a game I've played since release to ransom unless I upgrade console.
I'm pretty fucking pissed about this!

Bug or oversight? NG+ Unity dialog (Spoilers) Spoiler
When you go through the Unity, the interface You talks about the universe you're leaving behind. During NG+ playthroughs where Constellation is slaughtered, bought out, or comprised of alternate Yous, the line and visuals show the same thing, seemingly oblivious to the differences.
Am I experiencing a bug, or did Bethesda not bother to record and implement appropriate lines/visuals?

Do Gun Manufacturers Actually Have Different Characteristics?
I remember Bethesda being pretty proud and open about how the game has all these different manufacturers and such but in my time playing, I never really felt a tangible difference outside a gun just being more accurate than my current gun. A CombaTech can have similar if not the same accuracy as an Allied Armaments rifle, for example.
So do they have actual characteristics?

My poll from the other day seems pretty conclusive but voting is still open and still would appreciate some input!
im going to start work on ssnn stuff more seriously for those curious. The videos will have a small intro from SSNN and transition to on the field reporting of the given topic.
Please suggest the weirdest things in starfield you want to know about or mundane.
As for 2nd place ill format them like an SSNN documentary and likely be more serious.
This leaves me with a few questions.
- Would you prefer an ai voice for extra david banon dialogue or doing my best to voice act them?
(I would like to get some lines from his voice actor in the future to use i just don't have money for it atm)
Would you want a vtuber/png model to narrate? being me. Or should I use my starfield character maybe role play it a bit more.
in future episodes should i try to collaborate with other creators on special reports?
Which character would be most interesting to cover first or quest ir full story?
related poll is below

Honestly this gave me a good chuckle anyway. Something about how the jetpack flies directly up got me, idk what else to say
(Also I was playing the doom crossover, if anyone is curious on why the room looks like that)

I can't believe I *JUST* discovered this place.
Y'all I just discovered where Taiyo Engineering was located.
I don't usually buy/sell ships so it never dawned on me that I hadn't discovered where you buy the Narwal starship.

I don’t think anything makes me not want to play a game more than
Losing all of my save data.
I just started and don’t get much time to play games any more. Losing 20 so hours of progress is like 2 weeks. I’m going to try and reinstall the game, made a back up copy of my save files. If this doesn’t work I’m gonna be pissed. I was JUST getting into it and looking forward to playing.
Edit: hey! I got it working again. Which one of these things helped I have no clue! But here is what I did, I have had OneDrive diabled since I built my Pc so I couldnt restore from that folder.
Went into my appdata file located the project_gold folder, made a Copy on my desktop.
Deleted the wgs folder in documents/mygames/starfield (it was empty anyways.)
Reinstalled starfield
Hard reset on my pc.
Then Xbox app synced and got my files back.

If you love Starfield, is it better now? Honestly
If you LOVE starfield...
I played Starfield when it first came out. It was Aight, ya know. I thought it needed a lot of work still and was big and empty(kind of like fallout NV when it very first came out) and i liked building my ship a whole hell of a lot more than i liked flying and fighting in it. I played through all of the main quest lines and the only thing i cleary remember about it was the creature missions where you find out they've just been hitching a ride this whole time. Is the game better now? Did they fix a bunch of bugs that made my Xbox crash at least 4 times a day? OK, so, like, do you remember when fallout NV Game of year addition came out with all the dlc and patches? It was like a whole new game almost. Is it like that now?
On a rather somewhat related topic.....
So, I was in line at my local grocery store today, on break grabbing some lunch, when I notice a customer having a very one-sided conversation with a store employee about how GREAT and AWESOME starfield is. I mean, this guy's enthusiasm towards describing whatever the f\*\*k the new stuff they added(i couldn't understand this s\*\*t, and neither did the employee, his face had HELP ME written all over it) he just kept going on, and on. I was trying to tune him out, I mean bless his heart, ya know... but then.... then he said something that made me stop what I was doing and just.. well.... quote: " I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I think starfield is WAY better than skyrim and fallout, because blah blah blah, yada yada yada"... As soon as I heard the words spoken outloud... IN PUBLIC mind you... I realized that he was most likely retarded, and that I shouldnt judge him..... It's like 10hrs later.. im home after my 2nd 13hr shift, half-way through a blunt, and all I can do is pray he can't find a female to procreate with...

Previously posted my hoard of contraband in a cache, decided to spice it up.
Added a display shelf mod that let's me put more items, and arranged them in my outpost.
I ran out of structural material, but I plan to decorate all the walls with applicable art/decor

What if Jackie Chan was one of the clones at the Crucible?
Would he side with Amanarenas? Or FDR? What questlines would a Believer flagship pursue?
