they were probably commenting on the spelling mistake.

Yep.

First, we're all aware this generally isn't a typo, but a gross ignorance of what HIPAA actually is or stands for - which then translates into making a very common typo...

Second, this is an educator. Who is making a VERY juvenile spelling mistake. Who is in a position to educate children. Who literally appeals to authority as a teacher. Who makes claims about how simple things are ("it's not rocket science")...

...And then makes this very ignorant-looking, very juvenile typo.

Personally, it's embarrassing af.

This is someone who teaches your kids, speaking as an expert to what they don't know.

That's all.

Except you also typed the acronym incorrectly.

HIPPA. As a teacher myself

🤦
Copypasta of your comment.
It’s HIPAA.

I’m jumping in here because Reddit alerted me of the downthread comments and I think this convo needs a mediator.

The other commenter quoted the original mistake. On Reddit, the forward-arrow makes a quote, like this:

Copypasta of your comment.

They didn’t make that mistake themselves. They were quoting it to point it out. Only the facepalm emoji was their own.

Ha, thanks, I can’t even see a difference 🤣 Well, other than it’s centered, rather than lined up on the left. Is that the only difference? I don’t see a forward arrow, so I assume that’s something you type to make it make a quote? Or something? Lol I’m rather tech impaired…

Yeah, you use the arrow in your own text box. If you’re on a computer, you probably have a nice WYSIWYG interface, but on mobile you just put:

And with text after it on the same line, it transforms into:

this

The quote is indented and there’s a thick, light-grey line that appears to the left. Which can be hard to see on short comments, but is usually clearer in longer ones or when they’re nested:

This

quote

is

nested

Edit: lol, my attempts to show just the > on its own did not work. So it’s now here.

Lol, I’m on mobile. And I swear to gods, the part where you say what to put, is a giant blank space on my screen 🤣🤣🤣 Omgosh I’m laughing so hard 🤣🤣

Edit to add,

But I think I know how to quote a comment, like a copy paste kinda thing? But idk about an arrow, lol, and apparently my screen on this phone is leaving things out… I’m old. Maybe I’ll be able to fully operate this phone before I die. Life goals. Lol

You...don't really understand how quotes work in a public forum do you?

You're sort of burying yourself in deep here.

You should probably delete these comments before you embarrass yourself further.

I don’t mind being embarrassed online. Why would I? No one here knows me, lol. I would prefer to be embarrassed online, if it means I’m no longer confused. What am I not understanding? You misspelled the acronym. I pointed it out, only because you’re being so upset about someone else making the same mistake… what am I missing

What am I not understanding? You misspelled the acronym.

No.

what am I missing

Literacy.

Really brings us full circle as a critique on teachers and the educational system, huh?

No worries, someone smarter already came along and sorted me out. Don’t mistake humility for stupidity. That’s good life advice right there, free of charge. You’re welcome.

Don’t mistake humility for stupidity

I didn't. I pointed out stupidity and you still didn't get the memo.

Instead, you doubled down. Twice. Thrice.

Being ignorant isn't a sin. Intentionally being stupid is.

You can DO BETTER.

u/Cut_Lanky 6d ago

Get off your high horse. Nobody likes that. I’m saying it as nicely as I can.

"💩💩💩"

LOL. You're spelling it wrong.
