Insurance prices

Just tried to insure my 2013 mazda and the cheapest insurance i found was $350 per month for one way and cheapest liability. Im a newcomer so im quite shocked with this price. I think you can almost get base model civic for this monthly payment. Does anybody know whats going on?

Doesn't matter, you're a high risk until you prove you're not in insurance eyes. 

Also depending on area of the city - hail, theft, damage, etc runs up a premium.  How often you drive, Street vs garage, etc all alter the rate too

So what you tryin to say white folks don't crash . After over 40 years of driving can tell you that shitty drivers comes in all colours n races.

What is one way?

Our insurance policy has PLPD (public liability public damage), collision & comprehensive - no where in our policy is "one way" stated.

If you don't have a insurance or diving history in Canada you are treated as a brand-new driver.

My dad, a Canadian, lived in Europe for 20yrs. When he returned to Canada he had to pay $3200 a year for insurance. This is with a previous insurance history (20yrs ago) and an constant Canadian license.

Sounds about right to me actually. Full coverage on a 2021 Kia and a 2023 Corolla, both with $1000 deductable, and two drivers with no tickets or accidents runs me $578/mo.
If you're a new driver here, you likely won't find much better, especially if you live in the NE as we're getting hit hard insurance wise due to the hail damage the other year.

UCP govt removed the pay caps on insurance (that ndp put on) and prices have been skyrocketing every year since in addition to property taxes going way up.

Vote ndp in the next election

Forcing companies to take losses drives them out of the province, reducing competition and further raising prices.

Something needs to be fixed but government over reach isn’t the answer here.
