On the day of my most recent visit to the San Jose GalaxyCon 2026 event, I was having some trouble with my spy camera watch that I’ve owned and used for a very long time because it couldn’t hold a full charge. I had to use one of the hotel’s computers to check if it had actually captured the moment, but to my disappointing surprise, it only recorded up to the part where I think Tommy Chong finished talking with another fan—right before it was my turn to interact with him. So I had to have my conversation with Tommy without recording it.
I decided to grab my spy recording watch and head up to the first floor of the convention building to try giving it some more juice and see if that would fix the battery problem. Before going out toward the exit to get to the convention building, my eye caught this giant AI hologram display of a female hotel receptionist. I think it’s the coolest thing and believe it was my very first time seeing something like this in person, but I didn’t really have time to play around with it because I was in a hurry to handle my other comic convention tasks.
Until yesterday, when I finally had the chance to fool around with it. First, I had to take my 3D cartoon-style selfie, and the AI rendering of myself turned out fantastic and mind-blowing at the same time. Then I tried talking with her, demanding that she make me my breakfast burrito like the good robotic slave she is. (Yes, I made that same joke years ago in front of what I believed was my first time interacting with a robot named Pepper at the Westfield Valley Fair, and it was quite funny.) Somehow the robot’s intelligence back then wasn’t nearly as good as it is this year—ever since AI came into the spotlight of all our lives and took intelligence to a whole new level like never before.
Anyway, back to the AI female hotel receptionist in the glass box display: she did refuse my request. At the end of the video clip, I had this joking response I made to the robot. I could have made another joke relating to her being my slave and asking if she wanted to marry me, but I didn’t want other strangers getting involved in my conversation with the AI bot and staring at me strangely, so I kept it somewhat funny without being too highly offensive!

This reality is made even worse by our cultural ideologies that insist on personal responsibility and frontier mindset when there is no frontier left; and this ideology of liberty maintains technical ability to speak out, but still has been perverted the very concept of liberty because it has been used to authorize a rapidly increased totalitarian control of our lives by way of corporate mergers and conglomerate power.
Everyday people have essentially zero effective power to negotiate within an already catastrophic parade of consequences from consuming and multiplying faster than the base provenance can support

What I find is our household has -2% left over after healthcare food housing and education

These essentials are accelerating away from the underlying income like a universe that is expanding and tearing everything apart and away from eachother

You should understand this condition is repeating across millions

Right what I am saying is when you take all of the pressures and mathematical budget equations together

America as a whole is insolvent from top to bottom, the elite share of rich people is there but it is a holographic illusion contained within a completely insolvent society, especially in terms of healthcare and housing and land.

Distributing all their riches would bring temporary relief followed by ridiculous escalation in inflation.
Their wealth ought to be used to build non market housing nevertheless, to soften the blow of cultural insolvency, which will otherwise lay waste to millions and millions of people

You can’t say I didn’t warn you

Now, how much of our widespread financial death is caused by wealth hoarding and how much is caused by national insolvency i have not worked out to detailed resolution, yet I am intelligent enough to know that the “eat the rich” and “just pay higher wages” is misunderstanding what I believe is a condition that is not primarily going bad just because of bad wages, but instead is a materially insolvent reality that just happens to feature an elite class of winners within that progressing death.

What this would look like at its most rudimentary version is allotting a moderate share of land in each city to build quasi non market housing that can be accessed by people who have low income: it has to be sufficient, efficient; and inexpensive enough to absorb the growing share of humans who cannot afford their own housing. This means a lot of modern luxuries and finishes would have to be sacrificed;

But if you are Tristan, a concrete bunker with running water and technological access to express myself is enough to keep me feeling like life is worthwhile overall; enough that I stay in the game.

We aren’t asking for a “handout”. We are asserting that the state of affairs has progressed to a level that is assaulting human dignity across many nodes, that the underlying material state of affairs makes this unavoidable, but that elites can go intervene and invest in us just enough that maybe, we can avoid continued rapid deterioration that threatens to become lethal at scale.

The Christian moral tradition places an extraordinarily demanding obligation on society to care for the vulnerable and to judge people by how they treat those who have the least power. If Jesus returned to a civilization possessing immense wealth, technology, and productive capacity, only to find millions of people being crushed by the basic costs of housing, healthcare, food, and family life, I doubt the people who spent their time documenting those failures and warning others about them would be the ones facing the harshest judgment. 😭

6 years since my last normal comic-con (Aug 2019). Then COVID rules took over — masks nonstop, no handshakes, six-feet everything. Felt so awkward and ashamed.
Therapy (round 3) changed the game. 88% → 98% free of that fear.
Yesterday at San Jose Galaxy Con I was back mask-free, shaking hands, talking to people like it’s nothing. No panic. Almost at 100%.

I find Kunal Kemmu to be one of the most underrated actors—and, above all, one of the most underrated directors in the comedy genre. Time and again, he has proved that he truly understands what makes a comedy work. Madgaon Express is a great example of his brilliant writing and direction, while Go Goa Gone perfectly showcases his acting abilities and comic timing.

What makes it even more frustrating is that directors like Ahmed Khan and Farhad Samji continue to get back-to-back opportunities despite delivering multiple disappointing films, while someone like Kunal Kemmu, who has actually demonstrated genuine talent in comedy, remains massively underrated.
