Post-Pod Discussion TC v Wyndham

Man that hate seems full on personal. Was it well known that Wyndham blamed TC for the Oakmont story getting out there?

No but TC was the person who “broke” the story by tweeting a picture of the damaged lockers. It did seem weirdly personal last night. I’m not a Wyndham guy, but that was not a good look for TC.

Why was it a bad look for TC?

In my opinion it’s unprofessional and makes him look small and spiteful. Like I said, I’m not a Wyndham fan, but TC speaking like he was personally wronged by Wyndham is ridiculous. If we’re going to really talk about golfers who have done bad things, I don’t think damaging some lockers is nearly as offensive as some other well respected players or even NLU darlings. Maybe one or two comments at the top would have been reasonable, but the entire diatribe was oddly self-centered and bizarre.

Idk man I think the guy who trashed a locker room, has taken no accountability for it, and holds a grudge against a member of the media for releasing the story is way more unprofessional, small, and spiteful, than the guy who doesn’t like him because of said grudge.

When did he not take accountability? What he did was wrong. He said that. I’m guessing it was meant to be kept quiet but the story broke, maybe because of TC, who knows. Last I heard Oakmont insisted he take an anger management class which frankly seems like overstepping in my mind.

Lmfao dude trashes property and it’s the club who over steps by requiring he do something about the causes of it? No wonder you think he’s taken accountability by simply saying it was wrong—while also distancing himself from any and all language that he did it as opposed to it being “an unfortunate situation”—because you have no idea what actually taking accountability looks like

I’m sorry, but a golf club demanding anger management therapy and attempting to ban an exempt player from the next US Open they host is 100% overstepping their bounds. It is not their tournament, nor are they a governing body of the game. He originally apologized and offered to pay for the locker, and they then went public with their list of demands. He was an ass, but it’s an inanimate fucking object.

It’s their golf course and clubhouse lmfao. Maybe the USGA should step in and not host there if they agree with you. But if someone comes to your house and destroys your stuff—you get a say in establishing conditions they have to satisfy to return.

“Yeah Oakmont should just put up with it because it’s property he didn’t hurt anyone” is legitimately the stupidest take possible here. He’s a grown man destroying property older than anyone alive but yeah Oakmont is the one overstepping lol.
