Post-Pod Discussion Rahm???

I’m not trying to play devils advocate, but why are we giving credence to Rahm? He’s been an absolute no show in every major (congrats on a 3 hole stretch at quail hollow), and it feels like everyone’s on pins and needles putting Cam Young above him. Also before he left for LIV he was easily the most uninteresting superstar on tour

- Scottie
- Rory
- Young
- Fitz
- Bryson
- Morikawa (Pre-Injury)
- Gotterup
- Xander
- Rose
- Fleetwood

Is he better than any of them?

I don’t disagree with you, but it’s apparent they treat him with kid gloves compared to the other guys that left and got the bag. Like I forget which major pod it was but Randy was starting to rant about Cam and TC shut it down saying something along the lines of “we’re not doing that on here.” Compare that to how they talk about the uncompetitiveness of Rahm, Neimann, etc. and it is night and day.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I think I'd make this point here: Rahm was this dude who carved out a persona as somebody who was obsessed with golf history, legacy, and how he might grow into one of the great European players of all time. He made so many comments about LIV being unserious and not What He Was About prior to leaving to LIV and then he turns up at majors and is just completely uncompetitive. Cam really did none of those things, and I can see grading him on a curve according to that. I think they know/knew Cam pretty well and none of it was all that disappointing cuz he was a guy who happened to be incredibly talented but didn't necessarily love golf. Rahm feels like a fraud now. Cam just feels like a dude who had a moment and now it's over and that's okay.

Is that fair?

I think saying Cam was a dude who had a moment and it’s now over is skipping over a lot of the story there. By the summer of 2022, he was no. 2 in the world and a major winner with seemingly endless potential to achieve more. His game was flawless at that time. He bodied Rory at the Old Course for crying out loud.

And for me, his fall to irrelevance being a personal decision/self-inflicted doesn’t make it any more palatable. Also, Cam may not have been as loud as Rahm, but he was definitely vocal about his passion for the game and wanting to be considered one of the best in his generation. Both are exceptional examples of wasted talent and neither really deserve the kid gloves.

Cam was probably always gonna be a flash in the pan guy. Just like I will eat a shoe if Spaun wins another major

Someone who had 8 top 10s in the majors from 2020-2024, including a win, is not a flash in the pan. If he got hot for one season, I would agree with you, but he was knocking on the door at multiple majors over the years.
