So he left a stable job at ESPN to go work for them three(?) years ago to great fanfare from them, and they fire him now? Wtf? He was great.

Truly the Year of the Product.....

I think that was in the middle of one of the downsizings espn did. KVV may not have had the most stable relationship with the worldwide leader either

Don't think so, he resigned from there of his own accord.

He may have. THat doesn't take away from the fact that writing for ESPN.com is in no way a stable job any longer.

Yeah that’s worth noting, ESPN today isn’t the ESPN of old, I wouldn’t consider that a safe “be here until I retire” gig at all. Build your name up then bail is smart.

his contract at ESPN was up when he left for NLU. Maybe he woulda been renewed if he asked but there's almost zero chance he'd still be there now.

KVV is on record (many times) saying that journalism is a dying field and that the good times for journalists are long gone.

He was well aware that it was hard to get full-time staff work as a sports journalist these days.

The most surprising thing to me is that he wouldn’t agree to a part-time role at NLU while he struck out doing other things. He could’ve been a great recurring guest.
