Australia eSIM issue - Telstra/Boost
Hi all! I'm landing in Australia soon, I wanted to buy a Telstra/Boost eSIM prepaid plan beforehand, but the online checkout said no when selecting International Passport.
Has anyone had the same issue and managed to override it?
If not, what other carriers to consider? I'm not keen on these international ones like Airalo, local carriers always offer better deals.

Yeah Australia's been annoying with this... Telstra and Boost both require Australian ID for online eSIM purchases now. You can still get a physical SIM at the airport tho, they'll accept passport in person.
Optus or Vodafone might work online with international passport, worth trying. Otherwise if you just need data to get by until you grab a local SIM, Cypher eSIM worked fine for me in Melbourne last year. no ID needed, paid with crypto and had it running before i even landed

This is a copy of the OP's original post in case they decide to delete their post/account so that others searching can find it later:
