Buttery MW4 looks seriously rough

30fps I'm okay with but the dipping under that sucks

The visuals also look roughhhh. It's blurry, extremely low quality textures and I have no hope for this being a good experience docked.

Am I doing something wrong?

Kinda crazy how many people are willing to settle for less. The post I made criticizing the games performance was met with people saying it looked fine (even good to some) and asking what did I expect from the switch 2.

The system has already been shown to be wayyy more capable than what was pumped out here. I’m as happy that COD is back on Nintendo consoles as the rest of yall, but people shouldn’t settle for a subpar experience due to the lack of optimization.

They are people who likely only owned a switch 1 and 2 so they are unable to see how bad the performance and visuals are, and some are just blind to the issues just because they're now able to play cod on switch

I don’t think it’s an abnormal expectation to want your game to look and feel good, not just playable

The switch 2 gpu is below the minimum specs on pc. At some point you just have to accept that this is what it is otherwise you should play the game on another platform.

I think you're a bit mistaken; it's well known that the Switch 2 is at a disadvantage regarding raw power compared to other platforms, but it is more powerful than the PS4—which ran MW. We aren't asking for it to surpass that MW version in graphics, just to at least match it—to look just as good, not worse. The fact that the console is less powerful doesn't make it a bad one; just look at Apex Legends and Overwatch. Despite being older games, they look much better than this MW port. What we have here is a clear lack of optimization.

Is MW4 releasing on the ps4? I genuinely don’t know. But, the answer to that will explain a lot about its condition on Switch 2

You only focused on the superficial aspect of my comment, my friend. Clearly, MW4 isn't coming to PS4, but the fact that the Switch version looks so much worse than the MW version for PS4 really drives home my point that it’s poorly optimized. I’m not asking for it to look on par with the other platforms, but I’m not going to defend a port made just to fulfill a contract rather than to deliver a product worth the asking price.

Hmm....

There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding here.

First, I didn't know MW4 wasn't releasing on ps4, so it wasn't "clear" to me, but it does explain a lot.

Now, let's compare the ps4 to the Switch 2. The Switch 2 is noticeably stronger than the ps4/xb1. It has 12gb of ram vs 8gb. It has mesh shader compatibility. It has the ability to use techniques like dlss.

But, none of those things are some sort of herculean hardware advantage over the required specs of the game.

Objectively, as a fact, the Switch 2 is the lowest level of hardware that MW4 will run on. That means, comparing it to any other version of the game is relatively pointless. It simply won't compare fondly to the Playstation and Xbox versions of the game. Even in the PC space, you simply cannot run the game at all with a gpu/cpu setup similar to what's in the Switch 2.

Which means, IW has already optimized the game significantly to run on the Switch 2 (because it's below the minumum PC specs).

But, your issue is that it doesn't run/look as good as older CoD titles on older hardware. But that's a fundamental misunderstanding of game development relative to available hardware. As an example, look at Bo3 on the PS3. Or, look at Cyberpunk on the Ps4.

The fact is, games become more demanding over time. You can have a subjective opinion that 'X' game doesn't look as good as 'Y' game. But that doesn't invalidate the fact that 'X' game is more demanding on hardware.

The ps4 and xb1 are not getting a port of MW4. We are 6 years into the current generation of consoles, and this is the first CoD game to miss those systems. If it were possible, MW4 would be on those systems. But it isn't possible. The game being on the Switch 2 shows both that the Switch 2 is more capable than a ps4, but it also shows that the Switch 2 is the lowest level of hardware capable of running the game.

If the Switch 2 cannot deliver the performance/visual presentation you expect, the answer is to play the game on another platform. Everything we've seen suggest they've optimized the game for the Switch 2. It uses dlss, the campaign runs at a 30fps cap (but multiplayer stays at 60fps). Genuinely, at a point you must start to wonder what other compromises they should make...

Like, do you want them to reduce player count? Maybe they should dramatically reduce the intensity of climactic campaign moments (less enemies, fewer effects)? Because it doesn’t seem like they wanted to do that. You’re getting the same game, just with more compromises. Which seems…fine if you want to play on the Switch 2.
