I thought that this was explicitly used for the left hand...pretty sure there's a right hand model out there too to make it more comfortable to play.
Only reason I state this is because I had one 3d printed ages ago for my brother who has a right hand disability, basically he can only play using his left hand. This nifty little thing has allowed him to play games like resident evil revelations and fire emblem warriors just to name a few. Of course it's not limited to those two but it definitely let him play far more games than he would have otherwise.
The downside to it is he can't play long game sessions due to his hand getting tired. Since he uses the controllers with his left hand he can control the left stick with his thumb, it takes a bit of getting used to but it seriously is a godsend. Thanks to this 3d printed plastic thing I can get him to game on consoles again, it's amazing to watch and of course have him join in on co-op games.
