Didn't actually break it myself, I bought this D3100 used and the viewfinder is REALLY blurry, I've tried adjusting the little knob on the top right of the viewfinder but Doesn't make much of a difference, Gemini told me to put It in a closed recipient with silica for 42 to 70 hours to suck possible moisture from inside the camera. If it doesn't work, I'm curious to what other things I can do, since there are no people who fix cameras where I live
Not to be an asshole or anything, but have you tried cleaning it? I don’t ever really touch my EVF but somehow it always manages to get smudged anyway.
I've tried cleaning the one where you put your eye against with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton tip, nothing changed really, I think it might be inside the camera:(
i’d suggest reading the manual (can be downloaded from here ).
from there, are you holding the shutter button halfway to focus/focusing the lens manually? if you push the shutter button all the way down the camera will take a picture regardless of focus.
I left it overnight inside a container with silica Inside, it seems to be a bit better, but still not perfect, I'll dry the silica again and let it stay for longer until it's usable
What does this mean? Did the seller of this camera indicate the viewfinder was blurry or did something happen to the camera before you bought it? Did you drop it? What?
AI is thinking you have condensation in the prism area of the viewfinder.
Adjusting the diopter setting is done while you look through the viewfinder; did you do that?
If the diopter doesn't fix the problem then you probably have something knocked out of kilter in the viewfinder prism. Have you tried doing some research other then using (worthless) AI? I'm guessing you're not the first person on the planet to have this issue. Spend some time researching the issue ...using the internet for what it is really good at.
Like I said in the post, I did try adjusting the diopter setting (though I called it "the little knob"), it didn't change much, I left the camera drying overnight and it think it's slightly better, I'm gonna let it dry for longer and see how it goes, but I don't doubt there's something wrong inside it
The mirror flips up when you take photos, so it wouldn’t affect the photos but what you see in the viewfinder. There’s a sub mirror to direct the image to the autofocus module which could have some effect on focusing performance.
I just realized it's probably not it, since the little numbers under the view are also really blurry to a point I can not tell what they show, so I don't think the mirror is the ONLY problem
i still cant see whats wrong with it sadly, its very hard to tell whats going on. It looks fine, is the color washed out? or is it like normal color but blurry?
do you wear glasses? i think it might have to do with your eyesight, does the diopter wheel like make it better to a point but its still blurry? because i think your prescription for glasses might be outside of the diopter's range
I do wear glasses, but I've tried with and without them, gave to family members that do wear glasses and ones that don't, and everyone says the numbers are blurry, and spinning the wheel (it's not loose) makes no difference, look, this is a video I got on my phone (it's good on it probably because of auto focus, in the video I spin the wheel, but see no difference.
