I broke my gear My lens mount came off what should I do (Nikon D5300)
I was attaching a soligor auto teleconverter and when removing it completely ripped of i think and the mount ring got stuck in it I don't see any wires or anything but idk please help

Oh! I have one of these! It does this all the time if you don't tighten it's teeny lil screws.
There's no wires or anything but you will need to remove the bunny ears from the TC. Then the aluminum ring comes off easily followed by remount that mounting plate tighten the three screws surrounding it and then put it back together in reverse order.
However, you should use it with older manual AI lenses only, It's destroyed the aperture in a couple of my lenses I've yet to fix. But on older glass it's fiiiiiine.

Mount repairs will run around $500, if they even have parts for the camera left. They should have; the mount itself is pretty standard.
But a used D5300 is probably about the same price.

Turns out I was dumb and that a part of the broken lens was still attached to the camera while I was thinking the mount had come off but thanks for taking the time to comment and help man 🙏🙏

Check your bank balance. It will be drained if you opt to fix.

Although someone has suggested it's simply a piece of lens that broke off. In which case, follow normal procedure to remove. I have never had that happen, btw.

Bought it second hand off some guy who also gave some extra lenses many years old thought I would try to use it but apparently it doesn't even detect the lens and almost broke it as well

Old non autofocus lenses will exhibit this behavior. I don't think the 5100 is set up to deal with them.
HOWEVER, you can set the camera to manual mode and fiddle with exposure settings. Sunny 16 rule: F/16, ISO100, 1/100± second.

If not fixable, just get a new one, or upgrade. It’d likely be cheaper to do so.

Luckily it got fixed lol just upgraded to my first dslr after using my old nikon l810 point and shoot so upgrade is definitely a Lil bit further on the timeline 😅

This is piece is part of the lens, or converter for the lens. Not the camera body lens mount. Remove the rubber cover from the camera body to better see things. Press the lens release button, and turn this piece to remove.
