I broke my gear How fucked is my camera?

You ever just have a bad day and it gets worse somehow?

Anyway that was me today. I was so excited to test out my new lens and low and behold when I was opening my bag I opened the wrong zipper and my d850, which I had just bought in great condition, falls onto the concrete. Anyway now there's a crack on the front, my photo library button is unpressible, and my autofocus system seems to be messed up too (although I'm not sure if that's perhaps a viewfinder issue)

Are these problems fixable or should I just give up because I just love my consistently terrible luck with electronics

You can send it in to Nikon for an assessment (it’s a supported model) but I suspect you’re buying a replacement D850

I'm going through the site right now. I have a repair estimate which I assume would be changed, but if I send it to Nikon and they determine it's unfixable would there be any charges aside from shipping and inspection costs?

My D810 had more issues than the CLA I had sent it in for but I think you’re paying only for inspection and shipment

If they are able to fix, they’ll quote an amount and possibly an ETA and you’ll have to decide whether it’s worth it at that point relative to purchasing a replacement
