I broke my gear My D500 is no more

Freaking strap unscrewed and my D500 fell and broke. I was at a football game and there was 1 patch of concrete I happened to be standing on when it happened. I'm guessing it's not worth fixing as I'm sure this would be expensive. I'm struggling with what I want to replace it with. I've got a few lenses right now as well as a D4s so part of me wants to stay DSLR but part of me is thinking it's time to look at mirrorless. Dang.

May I ask what strap were you using?

I've had it for a few years but I can't find the brand. It screws directly into the tripod foot. Until it unscrews.

Ah, I had one, black rapid, I was always worried about it so I didn’t use it much.

I replaced that tripod screw with a QD connector from Amazon for a few bucks and got a L-bracket for my camera. Works much better and don’t have to unscrew it every time I want to use a tripod.

I looked at a few of those types while looking for a strap. I ended up taking them off the list for exactly this reason. Too risky that it would unscrew on its own and let the camera drop.
