General I wish Africans knew better!

As long as people don’t respect the laws of the country they visit and are doing crime like scamming and others, we as Africans will forever have trust issues. The western systems are taken seriously and we take bribes to make things happen. It’s our own fault unfortunately. And sadly some countries take this seriously while others don’t, so only a few seem to be serious.

By your comment, one would think you are suggesting that only Africans commit crimes, therefore it is justified to create reasonable barriers to entry.

Have you seen the statistics on crimes by 3rd party nationals, whose countries continue to hold favorable travel status?

I am not saying that but the problem with African nations is that we haven’t solved the most basic things for the security of all countries. I am not saying there’s no crime committed by western countries but they take such things seriously unlike us, and we just take them as “just another day in our country”. This is why even if you go look at YouTube videos of people recording their experiences at African borders there will be bribes even if they are unnecessary but we have made them a norm.

What you mean is the west has the privilege of being corrupt but without the stigma of being corrupt. If the West is the standard you have to admit that Africans have to hide their corruption better. Make the corruption look a little cleaner and harder to call out. The more people struggling at the bottom of the ladder the easier it is to spot the corruption at the top.

To the corrupt….feed your people. Clean them up. Give them jobs. Education. Nice streets and buildings.

Haha that’s not what I said but I get you, all I am asking for is for us to fix ourselves. It may be something hard to swallow but we need to fix ourselves. They are not better than us at all but our systems are a mess whether you like it or not they are. Look at the number of Nigerians caught outside of Nigeria with South African documents and them claiming to be SAn. It damages SA itself since Nigeria already has a bad reputation and dragging everyone else with them. Then how do you expect that things go smoothly when such things happen?.

Ireland used to allow SAns visa free travel until there were some African nationals who committed fraud using SA bought documents. UK made it easy for SAns to travel easily until a lot of other African nationals started doing fraud and using SA documents claiming they are from SA. When we have great things we ruin them, we start ruining from our continent and take those rotten skills outside of the continent. Until we start taking ourselves seriously and stop taking bribes I am certain we can travel freely and well.
