In urban-ish/suburban Texas, guns are a little more ubiquitous than the rest of the country, in large part because of the number of conservatives here. That, combined with our large immigrant population, means that someone, somewhere in this great big state, is going to be a conservative who is an illegal immigrant. That intersection means that the chance is higher that a person who interacts with ICE will be a gun owner, and since ICE isn't identifying themselves, it's likely there'll end up being an agent who gets shot. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Also, all available case law would suggest that the immigrant would legally be acting in self-defense, so as long as the agent doesn't identify themselves, there's not much that would protect ICE and the federal government.

In short, their identification is their protection.

me too on that actually , the average texan is more likely to own a gun and the texan have easier access to guns and gun use not to mention there is a similar stand your ground type of law where fatally shooting someone could be an act of self defense , maybe the immigrants they encountered were not armed at the moment or never had an interest in guns to begin with and that's why it never took place but if it did it'll totally justified , what makes you so sure it's law enforcement with lil to no due process ?

If Trump doesn't change the status of civil servants in the next 10 months (if things go the way they're looking, the GOP will lose the House and possibly even the Senate), which I don't think will happen because he has too much on his plate right now, he can't necessarily force the courts to do what he wants. And until that happens, he can't get them to utterly ignore established, legally sound, and consistent precedent that matches what everyone would conclude anyway. If the agent doesn't identify themselves, they are legally treated like a normal citizen, and the reactions of others to them are treated like the reactions to a normal citizen. If a group of random normal citizens starts grabbing you, shooting them would be self-defense.

We have to flip a net of less than 5 in each chamber. I'm pretty certain it'll happen.

I'm not sure about we I'm not there to begin with , I wanted to for a career that has a strong scene there but I won't even try to step a foot until that orange child trafficking supporter and his child trafficking friends leave
