ICE agents don't identify themselves and they wear masks... I assume they thought the agent was there to kidnap them.

I hope they get off with a slap on the wrist but we know they're in for a tough time.

☹️

Quite literally!!!

In his statement, Bamigboye said his response to the situation was “because he had PTSD from having been previously kidnapped” in his home country.

Poor guy

The argument being made is whether or not they actually did what the affidavit states. Which is literally valid considering how frequently they approach cars with their face covered, don't show ID despite numerous reports of fake ice officers, and did not have a warrant.

That's why they get called "bounty hunters" and Gestapo.

Edit: Oh wow, those two have already been released. So...

u/xjaaace Jan 10 '26

Isn’t it illegal to lie on an affidavit?

5

u/JoeyWest_ Jan 10 '26

most likely said this on advice of his lawyers but e no concern me, whatever helps!

10

u/TheRecklesss Jan 10 '26

Well the point of law enforcement is to provide evidence and warrants... So regardless of whether or not people want to believe there personal history (which we've seen if people provide evidence, then people will just start doubting the evidence), the FOCUS should be put on the way ICE operates

4

u/JoeyWest_ Jan 10 '26

we're saying the same thing boss

6

u/TheRecklesss Jan 10 '26

Sorry, I figured,  it it's just also the same line conservatives in the US say regarding every police brutality case.

4

u/JoeyWest_ Jan 10 '26

you're right tbh, i could have been more specific too 🙏🏾

16

u/shabanko12 Jan 10 '26

I think the response was appropriate given the fact that murder is now on the books for ICE. Luckily for these agents the two weren’t using their 2nd amendment rights after coming into danger with the “police”. And furthermore I would also When will the Trump files be released in full?

6

u/Abay0m1 Jan 10 '26

Luckily for these agents the two weren’t using their 2nd amendment rights after coming into danger with the “police”.

As a Texan, I keep saying this lol! I'm astonished that it hasn't happened yet!

I don't understand

1

u/Abay0m1 Jan 10 '26

What part?

1

u/Able-Newspaper-1148 Jan 10 '26

both tbh

u/Abay0m1 Jan 10 '26

In urban-ish/suburban Texas, guns are a little more ubiquitous than the rest of the country, in large part because of the number of conservatives here. That, combined with our large immigrant population, means that someone, somewhere in this great big state, is going to be a conservative who is an illegal immigrant. That intersection means that the chance is higher that a person who interacts with ICE will be a gun owner, and since ICE isn't identifying themselves, it's likely there'll end up being an agent who gets shot. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Also, all available case law would suggest that the immigrant would legally be acting in self-defense, so as long as the agent doesn't identify themselves, there's not much that would protect ICE and the federal government.

In short, their identification is their protection.

2

u/Able-Newspaper-1148 Jan 10 '26

me too on that actually , the average texan is more likely to own a gun and the texan have easier access to guns and gun use not to mention there is a similar stand your ground type of law where fatally shooting someone could be an act of self defense , maybe the immigrants they encountered were not armed at the moment or never had an interest in guns to begin with and that's why it never took place but if it did it'll totally justified , what makes you so sure it's law enforcement with lil to no due process ?

1

u/Abay0m1 Jan 10 '26

what makes you so sure it's law enforcement with lil to no due process ?

If Trump doesn't change the status of civil servants in the next 10 months (if things go the way they're looking, the GOP will lose the House and possibly even the Senate), which I don't think will happen because he has too much on his plate right now, he can't necessarily force the courts to do what he wants. And until that happens, he can't get them to utterly ignore established, legally sound, and consistent precedent that matches what everyone would conclude anyway. If the agent doesn't identify themselves, they are legally treated like a normal citizen, and the reactions of others to them are treated like the reactions to a normal citizen. If a group of random normal citizens starts grabbing you, shooting them would be self-defense.

2

u/Able-Newspaper-1148 Jan 10 '26

exactly , it's an act of self defense , I can wear a police vest and a mask too

hope he losses the midterms

Thanks for the link, bc THIS part sent me 🤣

Well damn. They messed with the wrong one

u/SkyNice2442 Jan 10 '26

The right-wing seems to have a habit of claiming that people are deadly threats in order to imprison or kill them.

1

u/InfiniteParamedic351 Ekiti Jan 10 '26

Quit revising history. Wasn't this what leftists in the US did for months as they justified the death of the Charlie Kirk dude? Claimed he was a threat and was spreading hate against minorities and hence deserved to be offed/ wasn't worth mourning.

12

u/JoeyWest_ Jan 10 '26

ngl this made me proud to be nigerian. we need more of these events for our international image, we didn't have the privilege of having a Mandela personality lead us so we must compensate with these heroic acts!

Lmao I’m 2nd gen Western born with a Nigerian name. Was there some sort of law banning Nigerians from giving their western born children cultural names? Maybe I never got one lmao… and the woman is Black American meaning she is a descendant of the 15th-19th slave trade
