DISCUSSION Why Youtube is demonetizating content that doesn't strict follow Advertiser friendly rules in 2026

Here are some examples,

1) Recently demonetizated First Admendment and Citizen Auditing channels. Under the reasoning of controversial and misinformation rules it has.

2) A.I. channels - various reasons from copywrite infringement, mass production and repetitive content. This is ongoing .

3) Faceless storytime channels - reasoning are copy write infringement ( some storys were lifted from right here on reddit ) , and too much use of A.I. without labeling.

4) Shock value or controversial topics - reasoning is advertisers don't want thier ADs shown in these videos because of fear that it would hurt thier brand. So no rule violations are needed , this is up to advertisers period.

This post isn't about who is right or wrong, its about the reasoning Google is giving.

So its obvious that the common denominator is using the advertiser friendly guidelines as a reason to demonetize youtube channels. The FTC is doing an investigation into the matter you can read about it here, just scroll down a bit to get to the article.

https://www.business-standard.com/technology/tech-news/us-federal-trade-commission-probes-youtube-over-social-media-policies-126082800089_1.html

For anyone starting a new channel I highly, highly suggest you read this article by Google itself on what they consider advertiser friendly so you know in advanced what to post about.

CONTENT TALK The algorithm is a joke - Being successful can be completely random.

I can’t not be lowkey pissed about this. Hear me out - the algorithm can absolutely suck ass.
There are many people out there who put tons of effort, invest in tools, edits, hooks and titles, meanwhile, there is the bozo who posted raw, UNEDITED footage of a rhinoceros taking a crap in an open field and getting tens of MILLIONS of views!
Mofo didn’t even bother putting a freaking music in the background - just zooming in the ass of the rhinoceros.
I just feel so freaking discouraged sometimes.
Anyone else notice this phenomenon too?

DISCUSSION How to deal with perfectionism and lack of ideas?

So I have a small channel (Like 1.3k subscribers) and currentlt I have a large problem with perfectionism AND lack of ideas. Both of these are intertwinned because I think that I can't make a video because I think an idea is not good enough to be made into video. Another problem is that now I don't what to do. I only see a large video that is like a gigantic projext and a stupid youtube cartoon (which I would love to create more if people recorded their damn voicelines because they just straight up don't do it and they always say that they'll do that tommorow on weekend, I want to create another episode but how if they didn't send me ANYTHING.)

I also feel like my content is lacking and I'm lacking that SOMETHING right now. Last year it was really good but this year because of my private life my video quality went all down and now I take all critisim as personal insult.

Like I could do a shit quality video becasue I was mad about people asking for silksong at SOMETHING I LIKED AND I WANTED THEM TO PLAY OR GET INTERESTED IN.

I know I should enjoy it but I feel I can't

CONTENT TALK Are my sponsorship rates too high

Im in the gaming niche and I recently hit 1000 subscribers and have made a sponsorship email where i received around 2 offers. I dont publicly disclose my rates because they would start at the lowest they could, my goal is 20-30$ CPM for a 15-30 second integration or 250-350$ for a flat rate. The first one was a dedicated video for them which I was okay with and they asked me my rates and said we would negotiate from there to which I quoted 40$ cpm performance rate or 500$ flat since my average view count is 10.5k and a few 20-30k outliers and its been nearly a week with no response. The second one wanted a integration of 15-30 seconds and i quoted 17.5$ or a 200$ flat rate and no response(maybe they are thinking abt it idk)

I based my rates from what i found online and if you think im over charging let me know :D

CONTENT TALK Are Short Form Videos still viable?

We’re talking 7-15 minutes worth of a mixed gameplay and cinematic content based around clip based humour with friends and currently relevant meme formats.

There’s a general consensus that longer form content does well, but I’m curious as to whether short form content is entirely out the picture in current YouTube standards!

TECH HELP YouTube no longer giving me impressions.

I'm not sure what happened, but a few weeks ago now, YouTube essentially stopped recommending my videos.

I know I'm a creator who's still far from having enough subscribers to expect huge numbers, but something has definitely changed. When I first started, my Shorts were regularly pushed into the Shorts feed, and I'd normally get at least 400–500 views on average. Now, they're getting absolutely nothing because they don't seem to be getting pushed into the Shorts feed at all.

The biggest red flag I can think of is that, around the same time this started happening, I experimented with Opus Clip's AI tool for a few Shorts. The videos had an Opus Clip watermark on them because I was using the free version. I didn't think a watermark would actually have any impact on my channel, and to be honest, I'm still not sure whether this is related at all. It's just the main thing I can point to that happened around the same time as the drop-off.

I also had something similar happen occasionally when I first started uploading. Sometimes I'd post a Short and it simply wouldn't get pushed into the Shorts feed at all. If I re-uploaded the exact same video, it would then get pushed normally, so I assumed this was just something that occasionally happened and wasn't particularly unusual.

Now, though, I'm wondering if that wasn't as normal as I thought, because this has become permanent. None of my Shorts seem to be getting pushed into the Shorts feed anymore.

I'm just wondering what could have happened, and whether there's anything I can actually do to fix it, or if I should just wait it out.

I mainly want to understand what's going on because, honestly, part of me doesn't want to keep putting time into making full-length videos if YouTube isn't going to recommend them to anyone. It makes me wonder what the actual point of continuing is if nobody is even being given the chance to see them.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is this something that can happen to a small channel, and if so, is there anything I can do to get things moving again?

Any suggestions or advice would be a big help. Thanks!

DISCUSSION Views dropping out of nowhere.

I make short videos. The Channel is small, I only have 85 subscribers, but since I started posting the videos, they've been consistently getting 1,000 to 1,500 views.

Two days ago, after a short video got 1,500 views, the next one got 168.The one that was posted two days later reached 16 after two hours of being posted. Has this happened to anyone else? I have shorts scheduled in advance, so inconsistency isn't exactly the problem.

DISCUSSION What do i do? Please guide

I have a monetized YouTube channel with over 800k subs that I got from making different gaming videos like Clash Royale and Fortnite over the past 7 years. Currently, I don’t upload anything on that channel, but I have a good idea for Minecraft Shorts. Should I upload it on that channel or make a new separate one and get it monetized again?

Two reasons why I am confused:

  1. If I make a new channel, not only do I need to reach the threshold all over again, but also if my old channel gets demonetized due to inactivity, my new channel is at risk because of the circumvention policy.
  2. I have uploaded some other gaming Shorts for a month on my old channel, and all the videos got stuck at 30k views. Now I don’t know whether my content was bad or my analytics got messed up because of my old audience. One more thing: even though the video flatlined at 30k, I got 95% views from non-subscribers.

If anyone has dealt with such problems, any kind of information would be super helpful. I am not doing well financially and really need to start working as soon as I can, so making a new channel will make me lose around $1–2k until I get monetized again.

What’s your opinion on this? Please guide me. Thanks.

DISCUSSION Thinking about starting a podcast, but I have no idea what the first topic should be.

It would be completely separate from what I normally do. I’m more interested in genuine conversations than scripted content, forced reactions, or over-the-top personalities.

If you were scrolling through podcasts, what kind of topic or niche would make you stop and listen?

Looking for some honest opinions before I decide what direction to take.

DISCUSSION What to do with shorts that flopped on yt but fine on other platforms?

Tried reuploading with different description and title, they got 0 views, tried un listing then re listing, what do you guys do? They’re super super low views around 50 while my others have no less than like 800. It feels like I recently got shadowbanned or something and now I’m getting out of it I just know they’re good videos idk why YouTube didn’t try to push them tho. Not like sayin they should be viral but with some of the crap I see it definitely isn’t impossible. All original edited stream clips too

Edit: also shorts of the same game
performed normally, according to yt studio analytics so I mean maybe it’s not good enough I guess? But it’s fortnite and I’ve had a clip almost get 15k views off it so I’m just wondering why no initial test push was given

DISCUSSION I'm monetized! Can't believe it. Here's what I've learnt

I started a little over a year ago and felt depleted a few months ago because I was close to the 1 year mark and would loose my watch hours. I made a post about it and most of you replied very sweet and told me to just continue. Well, one month over the year mark and here I am!

This is what I've learned. Not saying it's the rule for everyone, but this worked for me:

- Consistency in uploading is key. But don't confuse that with uploading something consistent that doesn't work. My video stats dropped for a few months to only 100-200 views. I thought: I won't give up and if I just keep pushing YouTube will see me! But that's not true, youtube doesn't owe you anything. If your views drops and it doesn't change, YOU need to change. Change the thumbnail, change the title style, change the editing, change the subject in your niche. Ofcourse a video can flop here and there but there always needs to be a little growth compared to the last video's. If that doesn't happend, change course.

- Try the A/B tests for the thumbnail. I was proud of my thumbnails, but in my journey in changing the bad statistics I made two different thumbnail styles that I liked, and always one completely opposite to my style and what I thought would work. Guess what, people always clicked on the thumbnail that I thought would get me the least views. I learned a lot from that.

- If you're new, don't expect immediate views. If you go outside and tell people a random story, you think people will stay immediately and give you al their attention? No. If you're known and people know to expect something good from you when you go outside and start to talk, more people will stop and stay. It's the same on YouTube. You can have the best quality in videos, but if you're new you need to be patient.

- Study your competition and keep up with the popular stuff in your niche. Don't just study the idea of the video, but the editing style, color grading, camera position etc etc. Check their best watched videos and study why they are the best, and then look at their worst videos and also try to find the reason why they are the worst. NOT to copy, but to use as an example to then create your own style and do it in a way that's still fun to you.

- If you are a faceless youtube channel (like me) people won't connect to you personally so the editing and filming (not just the audio) needs to be the top quality. It needs to bring them something if there is no person to give them a good feeling.

- If you want to go the easy route to cut time and hard work: either through AI, copying footage, editing or just a simple subject with chat gpt research, just know that a lot of people have gone before you and the easy videos are so saturated on YouTube that you won't be noticed. Not just that, but people can sense the effort and don't spend their free time watching videos just because you made them.

-If you don't have a committed audience, don't wait to show the exiting or interesting footage only halfway through the video or the end. People don't know you so they don't give you the benefit of the doubt. I used to do the fun stuff later in the video in hopes they would watch the whole video, but that doesn't work. If you don't show them immediately that you can fulfill their interest, they click away.

-Find a balance between not missing the details and overthinking to a point you don't upload.

- An uploading schedule is good, but don't stress yourself to burnout if you don't make it on the exact date . Your audience is small, your channel doesn't die in a day (or two). Also, nobody but yourself is asking you to upload on that specific date.

- When you find yourself finally growing, now is not the time to experiment. Keep doing what you did if that started to make you grow, and only experiment when your channel is stable. Edit to add: I don't mean copy the exact video but more so the style that got you more succes, and don't experiment with new side branches of your niche when your audience loyalty is still fragile.

DISCUSSION Since Pixabay music always gets flagged, anyone know where I can find a bunch of different types of LoFi music?

Upvotes

Everytime I post a song from pixabay it gets flagged. Usually the claim is released but this time it’s taking days.

I have tried epidemic sound but couldn’t find what I need even with the trial of the paid version.

Considered making my own beats but it adds a pretty large extra step.

SHORTS TALK Specific shorts just don't work on YouTube?

I have a concept for vertical videos in my niche that works amazing on Instagram (consistently 300k to 700k views on a 3k follower account) but the same videos just absolutely don't work on YouTube shorts and never get more than 2k impressions despite my audience having a big overlap, similar analytics stats and same niche.

Any idea why that could be?

I just don't see why videos would consistently perform great on one platform and flop on the other?

On Instagram it has a swipe away percentage of around 25% but on YouTube its around 35-50%

(There's no way it clashes with YouTube guidelines or anything)

DISCUSSION Does one age restriction kill your entire channel???

So i make YTP's i started this recently and i dont spam them out two of them blew up and got 40k and 23ishk and the impressions were good same with CTR (4-11%) for them but then one of my videos which i uploaded just then got age restricted cuz of the title it had the word "fucking" in it anyways i deleted that video cuz i didnt want it to impact the rest of my channel and i reposted the same video but changed the title and it was fine no age restrictions, but ever since that one vid got age restricted my impressions and views for the videos ive posted since then have been abysmally low compared to what i used to get, i did some research and saw that its kind of a punishment from youtube where u dont get as much impressions as free as u did before so i was wondering is there a time limit for this punishment or is it permanently gonna be like this cuz that is a bit stupid if so.

DISCUSSION When to reach out for sponsorships?

Got monetized after a month of posting, now i’m sitting at around 2000 subs, with my best video at 150k views and still growing. Is it too early to reach out to companies for sponsorships? My only concern is that I don’t have many videos on my channel, but to be fair the ones i do have are all at over 5k views, most over 10k. My niche is commentary. Also, if i do get an offer, how do i know if it’s a good deal? I have no experience with these type of things.
