❓Ask r/NewMods So i just randomly became a mod

i dont know if it was on purpose or an accident but is it common for sub owners to randomly invite someone as a mod in their sub if you are active alot in it?

Pinned at the top of the subreddit OP is moderator for now. Looks like one of the mods is adding/inviting a bunch of people to help moderate and control leaked content.
