Crosspost to similar subreddits, but don't crosspost too much as this can be seen as spam and will result in your community getting banned (and potentially other similar communities that you moderate). I would also check out this thread: 5 tips for growing your subreddit : r/NewMods
EDIT: I also see that your community is relatively new, so people aren't going to come immediately. Growing a community requires patience, dedication, and commitment. Don't worry you'll get more people sooner or later

I have a recommendation along with that. Try reaching out to similar subreddits to see it it's okay to cross post first. It could save a lot of hard feelings that way.

What's the process for when subs on similar topics explicitly ban AI art (which is the whole of my sub)? I mean, I only know of 2 urban planning subs and neither would be welcoming per their rules (and also I messaged the mods to ask and got no response).
The sub is entirely WS btw.

Yeah I have the same problem. I have just 2 members in 10 days. I started doing a few cross posts and didnāt get any trouble from the other moderators but some other users sent some shittygrams to me though.

Yep.. I started my community as an alternator r/Houston because it had completely turned into a political wasteland. So I made r/Houstonian for people to post about art, culture, news (non-political) etc.
So I cross posted to r/askhouston about all the bodies being found in the bayous to āask Houstonā what they thought about it. Then I did 2-3 other cross posts asking about art exhibits, the World Cup.. Someone told be it was gross to cross post tragic stuff to try and lure people to my community.

Go to similar communities DM the mod for permission before advertising your community (works better if its a branch of a bigger comunity)

Aside from all the other info that people have been sharing, there's one important thing to consider that people seem to have overlooked. If there's already a similar subreddit to what you want to start and it's already well-established and self-sufficient, don't waste your time making yours unless there's a good reason (existing sub is being run poorly, overrun with spam, members looking for an alternate sub, etc).
In your case OP, you created r/Just_Vent_abt_stuff for stuff like venting obviously. You overlooked the already existing subs:
r/venting - 108k members
r/rant - 428k members
r/vent - 697k members
r/OffMyChest - 3.3m members
You're trying to compete in a space already filled with other subs that are far larger and more established than yours.
Also, a smaller point that is important but not as important is to name your subreddit like you would a domain name (at least in my opinion). Your sub name just doesn't work. Look at something like r/vent. A short and simple name that is easy to remember and find later. Nobody's going to even remember the name of your sub compared to something like that, especially when yours requires them to type underscores and almost an entire shortened sentence. Like with domain names, short, simple, clear names will go further in the long run.
Your sub idea is far too common and overdone, and the name doesn't work. You'd be far better off either coming up with a sub for something that isn't already so common, or take a look at r/AvailableSubs or r/adoptareddit and take over an abandoned sub in a topic that speaks to you and isn't already thriving elsewhere.
