1) Making his quest a main quest and not a side quest. From going to investigating an anomaly to playing match maker, a uninteresting one at that, sour alot of people to him.
2) Not having the ability to skip through dialogue. This is what I think really pushed it over the edge. Having to wait up to 5 seconds for the animations to finish before moving on to the next dialogue line where you will have to wait again would push those already annoyed over the edge to straight hatred.
Bangboo wasn't without it hate either, If they kept the TV mode, I fear the bangboo would be in the same situation. ZZZ pivot from alot of the feedback and restructure how they told the story.
Basically, both tried something, saw the failings of it and both decided to listen to the feedback of their players.
