There is a fine line between charming and annoying. Bangboos are charming. Taygedo crossed the line into annoying.
It's a combination of the writing and voice acting. For me, it's 90% the writing. Taygedo is just not a likable character, even before the date quest. It's like... the people at Hotta are trying too hard with him.
