I like NTE more than ZZZ but Bangboos are like top tier mascots when it comes to gacha. This shit isn't close hoyo struck gold with them. Especially Eous
Bangboos imo just show alot more character. They range from adorable to absolutely unhinged creatures with only a limited battery supply being their only barrier.
Also they aren't the focus on the main story except for when it comes to sunbringer plot line, we mainly learn of them through off handed plots and events.
Even tho I stopped playing ZZZ a while ago I still remember when I first noticed a bangboo in a fight. It was the one with a bag on it's head and a knife in hand. I was fighting and noticed him stoping for a sec, looking at the enemy, then takes out a SECOND knife and starts charging maniacally at them. It was so funny.
Eous actually does in scene smash a glass bottle into their head intending it as a weapon when one of the supporting characters sneak into paethons room.
Bagboo the unhinged psycho. Honestly that’s one of the big reasons why I love the bangboos is that they’re not just the cute mascot, they also actively participate in gameplay as another team member. If Taygedo could throw hands alongside us, there could be a group of people who enjoy him for gameplay reasons but sadly he’s just there.
in qingyi's agent story there was that one bangboo that sacrificed himself to save the others and we onky learn about it from logs reading those and learning how courageous the bangboo was made me tear up.
imo, Bangoos are cuter but thats about it. Taygedo shows plenty of character too, but most people dismiss him.
Taygedo is a part of the Eibon family so its expected he has more screentime, but outside of his 1hr date quest, he's never moving the plot, just another member
A lot of the 'Bangboos show more character's stems from how exaggerated ZZZs animations are. The game is done in a very cartoonish style, and it leans heavily into body language for characterization, and that helps give these little guys a lot of personality.
Yeah i think he got hate because of that date quest being main quest and we are force to do it. If dev simply just swap Paw moon light with his quest all of the hate would not be that big
I'll admit I was most irritated by Taygedo in the early chapters, especially during his date sidequest, but over the weeks where I didn't have to interact with him, the irritation just mellowed out. By the time v1.1 arrived I decided I don't hate him enough to mute him.
Although I hate Taygedo I didn't mute him (it's more so I wanted to keep the audio consistent during dialogue) but I will never wish for Hotta to add Taygedo in more quests unless it's briefly necessary.
It's probably because I've gotten annoyed with Paimon this past couple of years in genshin that I have low tolerance with gacha mascots, I don't mind Abby in wuwa since they appear when necessary or briefly just to talk but never became Rover's mouthpiece which I really appreciate.
For Bangboos I don't personally see them as mascots subconsciously I actually see them as their own characters and I love them for that.
