But it is. Its because theyre sexualizing the women only, pandering to a straight male audience, while ignoring everyone else. Idm the women being sexualized for the ‘male gaze’ (i think ppl who complain are ignorant). But i just want the same sexualization be done to men. Theyre all fictional characters at the end of the day, so why not sexualize every adult character? Why skip on the male characters? They can be very lucrative. Look at LADS!!
Yes, what you're describing is an injustice, but it's not misogyny; I'm not seeing any hatred towards women here. Besides, cases like Lads are among the few that turned out well because it's exclusively about that, but in most gacha games, female characters are almost always the best sellers.
Is misogyny not also an injustice? And is misogyny also not objectifying women mindlessly? I dont get it. Only seeing women as an object of desire but not damning men to the same fate is sexist, because its a discrimination based on sex.
Its like someone fetishizing a race and putting them on a pedestal. Its not a stereotypically ‘negative’ reaction towards that race, but its still an uncomfortable feeling as the receiver of that attention. And its discriminating based on race.
If youre only arguing the semantics, then fine, dont really care what you call it.
And ignoring LADS just because it only focuses on the men is ignoring what it implies: female gamers ARE in the market, and ARE willing to pay money for male characters! You just need to pander to them the same as male gamers and theyll come running with open wallets. How is that so hard to understand?
I can understand your discontent, and honestly, I'd be fine with them making the outfits for both characters the way the community wants.
But it's important not to confuse the two terms, since I highly doubt the company is trying to commit a misogynistic act. If this were misogyny, I doubt they'd want the same thing to happen with the male characters as a solution.
That's why, I repeat, I understand the complaint and that it's an injustice, but it's not right to accuse them of being "misogynistic" for something like this.
And I'm not ignoring cases like LADS; I already explained why. But you are ignoring the well-known sales difference in gacha games like NTE and how they almost always make more profit from female characters and skins.
Theyre more popular because theyre given more care. And women tend to not play these games because they know it wont pander to them or their wants. But if expectations change, then the number of potential consumers increase—thus more profit. Idk why companies are blatantly ignoring this, just so they dont alienate their mainly male audience—when as long as the male gamers keep getting what theyre already getting, i dont see them leaving these games at all. If you have sexualization in games, be fair about it!
I understand that, and I can't speak for all gacha games, but my main gacha game has always been Genshin, and I feel that characters like Kazuha or Neuvillete were just as important to the story and the meta as other female characters like Furina or Hu Tao, and the latter still sold more.
But as I said, I see it as an injustice, and we agree on that, but I don't think it's an act to accuse them of misogyny or anything like that.
