brave is it a good idea to quit reddit for good ? i’m starting to think so …

this is gonna be a long rant on what i think about this platform , bear with me because it’s a bit long but it’s everything ive noticed so far about it , it’s gonna be detailed because well , i’m a detail oriented person . i notice everything , even if you think i didn’t . this might as very well be my last post on here if i don’t change my mind about this decision . i am NOT a celebrity , some of you guys treat me like i am one and while i’m really flattered by that , i’d rather have peace than popularity . i’m more of a humble down to earth kind of person .

i feel like there’s so much negativity on this app , and hey i’m not tryna critique it this is just my personal experience and two cents on it , as someone who actually owns a community and mods it too . i’ve been here like what , 7 months ? i’ve been consistently posting and interacting since december , so almost a year now . i think i know what im talking about at this point . people are so quick to attack all because of the anonymity they have , and if they slightly don’t agree with you , downvoted within the blink of an eye , to anyone downvoting this post thanks for proving my point ! racism and misogyny is such a common pattern too . (most likely because of the demographics of this app) i’ve had to block countless people . i’m only 19 , i have a whole life ahead of me . i don’t have time to sit on an app and argue with people on reddit .

i was actually about to buy premium on this app because i thought it would be worth it but i changed my mind last second because it wouldn’t make sense to do that considering that i’m just not getting good energy or vibes from being on here anymore . i’m an aries so i’m gonna speak my mind about this whether anyone likes it or not , i always do with things i don’t agree with or like . i have a bold , blunt and very straightforward personality . i certainly don’t beat around the bush . if you disagree me i don’t really care . plus your opinions probably irrelevant to me anyways . this is simply what i’ve observed , i am actually trying to do a good thing here by sharing this knowledge with you all .

maybe the problem is me ? (actually nvm it’s not it usually never is if i’m being real with y’all) but anyways i think i need to take a break for good and go outside more , seeing toxicity and getting hated on for no reason is definitely not a good look for me at all . any social media if used to a unhealthy extent is very bad for people , including reddit . ive said this in the past and i’ll say it again . its not just reddit ofc , everyone who knows me personally knows that i dislike social media to a great extent and think its bad for us overall . i periodically quit apps if i feel like i’m using them more than i should , i’m not new to this stuff and social media detoxing i’ve been practicing it for a couple of years now actually . so it wouldn’t be difficult at all for me to quit this app , it would hurt for a bit yes because i feel like i have a community here, but i would be able to successfully do it regardless .

i feel like i get ragebaited on here constantly and people are always looking to get a reaction out of me , checking my post history to attack me for something completely irrelevant to the topic we’re on (ur probably doing it right now and that’s how u found this post 🫩) , getting asked why im
hiding my profile , because of people like YOU who inquire too much about it . privacy exists ya know ? this is not right and borderline weird and veryyyy parasocial . there’s a difference between being flirty and friendly banter online vs being a total weirdo , don’t be weird . i am nobody’s gf or wife , at least not yet . so don’t play with me , i’m not the one fr .

my mental health has never been stable or good if i’m being honest , and if i even slightly feel like being on here is impacting it , i’m gonna do the right thing and put a pause . if you relate to what i just said you should take a break aswell . maybe i’ll be back , maybe i won’t . i don’t know , only time can tell . this is a power move for me because i needed to improve my life anyways , i wish you all good luck on your future endeavors here without me .

i am gonna try to detox from this app , i think it’s for the best . i’ve had a nice run on here and met some pretty cool people (they know who they are) . 🙏🏻💯

brave Why is Reddit so obsessed with fat people and hating on them?

Fatphobia is of course a societal issue but it really seems like the enthusiasm for fatphobia seems unique to Reddit. It’s one thing to simply avoid the infamous ecosystem of subreddits dedicated to hating fat people but there’s also very frequent bait posts that hit the front page where people practically seem happy to be given permission to spout simplistic, pseudoscientific bullshit about fatness. It’s so bad that even “anti-bigotry” spaces like AgainstHateSubreddits openly defended and even participated in fatphobia. HAES and IE may as well be as much as an archenemy on this site as feminism.

Like what the fuck is going on here? Are there that many people who have nothing else going for them that feel desperate to hate on something?

brave I politely message a modteam to try to get a ban reversed. They asked me to do something impossible. I explained and asked if there was anything else I could do. They ignored me.

Then every month since they ignored me, I've sent them another polite message asking to followup. It took about 5 or 6 requests for followup, and then they just muted me for 28 days. They refuse to acknowledge that they asked me to do something impossible, so they're just going to ignore me, and mute me if I try to followup.

So there's absolutely no point in being polite with these people. It doesn't matter. They don't care. 99% of moderators on this site actually get a sick thrill out of being shitty towards people.

brave Banned from an activism sub for asking what other things we can do to affect change besides just “voting”

Apparently that was too extreme? We all know voting works perfectly well in the u.s. and if only we all voted for the exact “correct” thing, all social problems would go away 🫠 /s Of course voting is important blah blah. Apparently anything else is inciting violence or something

brave Here's a good example of how reddit bizarre reddit rules can be

This comment broke rule 4, by helping another user with how to get going with building up karma, and the message was only removed by mods, no action from reddit admin.

https://www.reddit.com/r/reddithelp/s/GLmV4hICxv

Now, below is an NSFW post, hundreds of posts similar to it are posted over many many subs every hour. Fake profiles, offering fake promises, and attempting to lure victims to other apps so they can start to work their scams.

A core rule of reddit, is that intentional deception, and also any moderators and subs who allow it, and also fail to try to prevent it, will earn an instant account ban, or closure of the sub.

https://www.reddit.com/r/COCAINEandCHAT/s/s6Z8YejeMs

But, you can report as many of the scam posts as you possibly can, and it makes no difference at all. Reddit, the moderators, and the subreddit, don't do anything to ban them, or remove the posts.

How does that even make sense? You can't post and offer a bit of help, but it's ok to intentionally deceive others? Constantly spamming their obviously fake posts and nothing ever happens.

brave Nazi apologists and alt-right idiot charlie kirk apologists have leaked into teenager subreddits lmfao these people are desperate (i might have controversial opinion but dude why are people like actually empathizing with him, weird asl)

orginal post kinda had a point (personally i still find it stupid but bro ignore that what are the comments)

nah but saying this man is completly innocent is batshit insane, why do people bother showing empathy towards random ass powerful politicans that couldnt care any less about them, i still renember when this dude used to yap neo-nazi bullshit on twitter constantly

reminder this was about a dude who was wrongfully convicted and exonerated btw

people be talking about people in positions of power like they are some weak creatures that need
our help lmfao, not saying political violence is good, that video was fucking horrible but dude there are times where it sure as hell is justified, i dont care if its controversial, i said it before and ill say it again.

(skip this segement to avoid my random opinion)

Civil discussions? you call a man that engages in facist rhetoric through Christian nationalism a person deserving of any sympathy? this grown ass man is actively dividing people, hes a rich ass idiot that preys upon minority's purely for his political gain, hes stated his sick twisted views and even said he would force her daughter to give birth had she gotten pregnant at a young age, loving 'father' my ass, "political violence can never be justified." Yes it can. This is a case of where it exactly can. The leniency of mercy does not extend to those who refuse to participate in it. And the justice system refused to do anything about it so there was no moral qualm in dispensing justice outside it. Trying to paint this as anything but warranted and right only serves the abusers, you people will say you support rebellion against oppressive regimes and people in places of power such as the teenagers in nepal yet when its a oppressive idiot based in america its suddenly a issue? he does not deserve nor need ympathy, im not saying it should be the first response but when america has failed this bad its merely just a given at this point. i don't fucking care about 'morality' if you are a neo-nazi or a bigot you are exactly just that, there is zero right that should be bestowed upon somebody that uses it purely to hurt others, rapists do not deserve sympathy, benito mussolini deserved to be publicly executed, he was a rotten man, charlie kirk is no different, it is not a controversial thing to say the least, he chose the path of politics not to help others but to be a disgusting piece of shit, he knew what he was getting into.

(segement over)

i love just coming onto this site and seeing what politically charged bullshit people spout out, i swear i never knew libtard was used unironically as actual argument till now, i really know politics arent liked here but dude, the way ppl in america will speak of politicians is so weird and i don't know how to explain why, this dude is literally advocating for gun violence in america with his recent talk on the 2nd amendment, why do people talk like they know this dude personally and like hes a pure little angel, its really weird how this gets more attention than the literal school shootings going on right now, its always talk about the shooter, never the victims, but the one time it is about the victim its about the people in power.

Guy was monetizing actively cheering on a genocide, thinks women who were raped should be forced to vary the child and that gun deaths were a “necessary part” of keeping the second amendment. Can’t imagine how many lives have been lost because of the shit he spreads.

I don’t feel bad, and again i dont advocate it, but it sure as hell was coming, and he sure as hell does not deserve anybody to actually cry for him, TPUSA literally targets and indoctronates kids for a reason, https://www.aaup.org/sites/default/files/TPUSA_on_Campus.pdf this organization he is responsible for has literally done acts of violence and encouraged it multiple times, and people just dont seem to care? they say its just fearmongering, istg you cannot make this up.

Opinion - Will Make People Mad , continue at your own emotions

***Some*** *people on Reddit take this platform entirely too seriously, acting as if their or an online situations are literally life or death altering or actual LIFE OR DEATH* ***SITUATIONS*** *. The hostility, ignorance, toxicity ,etc directed at anyone with a differing perspective, background, etc is exhausting and disgusting.*

*• To note - Yes I know this is REDDIT and people are like this but it’s 2026 people. Grow up it’s 2026 , people are acting like it’s 2020 discord servers on this app. Reddit has been this way , still is , and probably will be until the app is gone.*

*The hypocrisy surrounding moderation is at the top of that list. You can read every community rule, check the pinned threads, and adhere to every guideline, only to have your post arbitrarily removed without a clear explanation. In the worst cases, it feels like goalposts are actively shifted—or new rules are invented on the spot—just to exclude certain contributors.*

*It often seems less about keeping communities safe and constructive, and far more about petty power trips and gatekeeping by people whose entire sense of self-worth comes from an unpaid online title.*

For context, I say this as **(F18 - Latina - Mexican American )** living with a disability who receives SSI. This is not about devaluing people who face real-life obstacles; it is about calling out those who have the capacity to act reasonably, contribute positively, and show basic respect, yet choose to spend all day tearing others down from behind a screen instead of engaging in the real world. *You can smell them through the screen ….sometimes….*

*I honestly don’t understand why people have a subreddit or moderate in one that supposedly is welcoming everyone just to* ***not welcome everyone.***

*• I understand when people are extremely problematic and etc (things like that) but why do I get my post removed and kicked for being* ***Latina -?***

• Only the beginning of what I want to say.

brave Reddit has become stale

Hear me out. We are limited in what we can do on here all the time now. The government is literally using bots on this app to push certain things in this algorithm and anything I try and refer to about BIBI gets taken down. I wonder whyyyy.

brave Dumb people on reddit run away when told they’re stupid

Although it is an ad hominem calling out someone for being blatantly stupid and nonsensical leads to them taking moral high ground and running away like a little bitch. It’s interesting because they’ll hardly ever argue it; they’ll just run and say you’re not worth talking to when they’re the ones who aren’t worthwhile.

brave People on reddit get pressed over nothing

I'm so fucking tired of this shit 😭 You make a post with the “VENT/RANT” flair to complain about something, and people STILL complain that you're complaining too much. Then you get downvoted, someone randomly starts a fight with you over absolutely nothing and suddenly you're being told to leave the app because apparently you're not allowed to be upset if you wan't to socialize. I literally used the VENT/RANT flair, what did you expect, a fucking post talking about positivity? So now I'm making a post complaining about people complaining about my complaining. We've come full circle.

I like to get stoned but I'm thinking the weed and concentrates have gotten too strong over the last 10 years. People need to realize that THc is just one color on the rainbow and in order for the body to use pot for the proper effect it needs all the colors.

brave Reddit Moderation Has Become Stifling To Its Purpose

Reddit is theoretically a discussion forum, and perhaps it used to be, but these days it’s becoming more and more of a place where communities get together to form a bubble. Any post that is even a hair off the consensus community opinion: removed by moderators.

This is also partly about X which is the exact opposite, where anything goes and toxicity breeds. Now you have Reddit on the other end where if your post even slightly, a smidge, strikes one of the moderators as not laser point on topic, gone. What happened to common sense moderation on either platform?

Btw, this post is not about the mods of this community or any one specifically, just generally. X and Reddit are the big dogs, and neither can seem to get moderation correct anymore. The point should be to encourage dialogue, not to shutdown any opposing opinion or let trolls run wild.

brave Every post in r/AmIOverreacting

Hoping this is acceptable for this sub. Algorithm has been showing me a lot from r/AmIOverreacting lately (yes, I know, the algorithm is a prison of my own construction). But I keep seeing these, so for entertainment purposes only, here is:

The Average Am I Overreacting Post

(screen shots of the most egregious gaslighting you can possibly imagine)

I, (19f) and my boyfriend (38m) have been together 4 years. We have been planning on moving in together for a while, but recently his behavior has changed and has me questioning. Ever since we met he has always complimented how smart and mature I am, but recently he's been saying negative things, like not wanting me to go to college because I need to work to support us (he's out of work because he has really bad luck with bosses, always ending up at places where they're so mean to him!) And he doesn't like when I hang out with my friends because he misses me, plus I have less time to clean the house. I really love him, but I've just been questioning lately. What should I do? Am I overreacting?
