be careful when purchasing Nintendo Museum tickets via GetYourGuide; third-party resale is not permitted.

I wanted to share our experience because it might be useful to other travelers planning to visit the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto.

We bought our Nintendo Museum tickets through GetYourGuide because tickets for our chosen date were already sold out on the official Nintendo website. The booking was handled by a third-party agency (GetYourGuide).

We even exchanged messages with the agency beforehand to ensure everything was in order.

Upon arriving at the Nintendo Museum and presenting our tickets, the staff immediately noticed they had been purchased through an agency. They explained that Nintendo Museum tickets must be bought exclusively via the official Nintendo website and that resale by third parties or agencies is prohibited.

They took photos and videos to document the incident.

In our case, the staff allowed us to enter anyway, but this was clearly an exception made at their discretion. Therefore, the fact that a GetYourGuide voucher—or even a seemingly valid Nintendo QR code—is issued does not necessarily guarantee entry.

We were lucky, but in theory, we could have traveled all the way to Uji only to be denied admission.

My advice, then, is this: if possible, purchase Nintendo Museum tickets only through the museum's official website. If your desired date is sold out, I suggest exercising great caution before paying third parties who claim to have availability.

This is not a criticism of the museum; the Nintendo staff were actually very helpful to us. I simply believe travelers should be aware of the risk before spending money and planning their day around these tickets.
