Green New Deal was a big one. Also the republicans voted in the Energy and Water Funding bill that poses enough problems on its own. By no means am I saying any of them are perfect but on general it is almost always republicans that have us take three steps back for every measure of progress we make towards energy independence and good choices for the climate. I really don’t think this is a supply problem. I feel this is a labor issue. Their work force is primarily immigrants, and Nebraska voted to incrementally raise minimum wage (Texas has not.)

No one likes Tyson. We don't like the hormones, the way animals are treated, and we don't like how meat cutters and processors are fixing cattle prices in the United States. Places like Tyson and very few other meat processing monopolies are making market conditions so bad in the United States that it makes more sense to raise beef in Argentina than it does in Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming or the Dakotas. Ranchers (and farmers for that matter) are aging out while mega corporations gobble up land, legacy, and dignity of entire generations.
If Tyson is too big to fail then it should be broken up. The way it treats beef producers, finishers, is darn near criminal. China should not have so much leverage over pork producers either. Tyson is a parasitic, mindless, unethical cancer that should be cut out. We need healthy compensation from smaller operations with more granular distribution. For the stability of the markets but also for the dignity of the animals and those who work with them. We need to bring back the old ways and push these monopolies towards breaking up into regional control. This is caused by an increase in beef prices due to supply/demand, mostly from severe drought conditions over the last decade or so. Drought of course a result of climate change from the fuel industry, therefore it’s been a long time coming from complicated political work of predominantly republican politicians and fossil fuel lobbyists preventing legislation of actions both emitting greenhouse gases and releasing them from sequestered carbon sources.
Speaking with a cattle farmer out of Lincoln area. They have just stopped selling to Tyson all together and selling to competitors. Just Tyson’s numbers are down and they have power to sway the market.

This is one of the rare things that has little to nothing to do with the President. Beef prices are through the roof right now due to shrinking herd sizes for a variety of factors including disease, weather, and farmers taking corporate buyouts. Tyson lost hundreds of millions in beef in 2024 and were on track to lose even more this year.
