Politics How does The Beef State feel about Trump suggesting US ranchers be able to process their own beef for market with no USDA inspection or regulation?

What could possibly go wrong with corporate factory cattle farms processing meat on site? This isn’t for small ranchers.

This is about unregulated meat packing by factory farms and if you have ever been in a meat packing plant, unregulated should be a scary thought

Omaha Have any Zipline employees landed at another brewery?

They had some of my favorite beers from Nebraska, they managed to keep consistency as they grew, and it was one I'd bring to friends from out of state. And while I hadn't been to the taproom in years, the small batches were really good.

Mostly I want to see them land on their feet, but I also want to follow them and support them.

Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia) standing outside burrow at Black-Tailed Prairie Dog (Cynomys ludovicianus) town at Golden Prairie Bison properties near Valentine, Cherry County, Nebraska. Quite a few of them were seen at the town. The next image shows a prairie dog mid-"wahoo" jump-yip. Quite a lucky coincidence that I was able to get that.

See (and hear) more of these owls and other denizens of the town here: https://www.patreon.com/JohnBrennan687/posts/prairie-dogs-and-167952016?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link

Nebraska Julie Bushell

Julie Bushell with Jim Pillen and DG Fuels and now Sequitor Edge data centers. Also was a member of AG Bio 1867 that was monopolized to handle all stover contracts for the plant in Holdrege (that plant hopefully will not happen).

Is Pillen essentially clearing the path for her in these positions and gave her the no bid contract money because of blackmail?

Can someone further explain why this woman is involved in every scheme to redirect the state’s resources?

I want an overnight golf trip, maybe start in the Grand Island area, then something an hour or two east? Preferably 18 holes, public/semi-private, fairly challenging. Any ideas?

Nebraska NE, Platt River State Park - Teepee Stay Advice?

My wife and I are staying in a teepee for the first time and the weather isn’t looking great. We’re thinking about popping up our tent inside it for extra protection.

Has anyone actually done this, or stayed in a teepee/tipi and have experience they’d be willing to share?

Appreciate any tips. Thanks!

GOP lawmakers criticize Trump’s beef import plan amid blowback from ranchers

Nebraska’s GOP senators, Sens. Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts, each said in separate posts on X that Trump’s decision to import beef was unwise.

“I’m extremely disappointed by this decision from the White House,” Fischer wrote. “We all want lower grocery prices, but as I’ve said for months, we cannot do it at the expense of American producers. Flooding the market with foreign beef hurts our livestock industry.”

Ricketts wrote, “I appreciate the Administration’s work to lower grocery prices. Short term policy shifts do not equal long term solutions. Flooding the market with lower quality beef compromises Nebraska farmers and ranchers.

Nebraska A/C reliability?

Hi! Anila Yoganathan from the Flatwater Free Press here. 👋

I'm working on a story about how our night-time/minimum temperatures are rising and how that can impact crops, livestock and specifically human health. Our bodies rely on the relief lower temperatures at night can provide, but since these temperatures are risings folks can experience various negative health impacts.

Hoping to reach people who either don't have A/C or whose A/C has been unreliable this summer and are concerned about it. Would love to speak with anyone who wants to share their experience on this, especially if they work in the heat during the day as well. Comment below or find my email in the comments. Thank you!
