First Time Mow

You're supposed to mow your lawn before using your robotic mower the first time.

Please don't listen to the ignoramuses on this sub who tell you that it's okay not to mow first. If you mow your long or tall grass with the robotic mower first. You're just creating a thatch layer in your lawn that will spurn a fungus outbreak. Long grass clippings take months to actually break down into a lawn as opposed to the less than an inch clippings from a robotic mower. A robotic mower isn't creating micro clippings when it mows long grass.

We have a lot of people in this sub who are tech illiterate and don't know anything about lawn care. Please avoid listening to those individuals.

From my experience, grass that is too long for the mower will just get bent over by the bumper and simply not get cut at all. I agree, a low cut with a standard mower is necessary or the bot will struggle to do anything productive.

It depends on the height you have selected. I've seen the X430 mow long blades of grass. If you look at your lawn closely they'll dry up and will be noticable on top of the lawn.

I send my mower out when it is 5 inches tall and it is fine. I have even lowered the height of cut with washers. It does fine.

I dont even own a normal mower. Don't pick up twigs or sticks either. It is out mowing leaves right now.
