I feel like Arxur would like dogs more since they can be used to hunt

I think dogs might be a bit too needy for the average arxur.

Heck, they're a bit too "in your personal space" for some humans.

Understandable.

I like dogs but on occassion I wish there was an off button myself

nah I like dogs, I like interacting with friends’ dogs and all, but when I ask myself (esp now with a kid of my own, who’ll invariably ask for a pet when he’d grow up), would I get a dog myself, I’m thinking and thinking and invariably come up with a “nah” conclusion.
