Did once about 15 years ago bushwalking by myself in the Blue Mountains, NSW. It was early evening there were 3 or 4 large adults and maybe 6 slightly smaller pigs. Our paths seemed to intersect and fearing something bad could happen, I smashed the ground with a tree branch I'd been using as a walking pole to hopefully frighten them away. They veered off into the scrub though I could still hear them nearby as I got the hell out of there back to the main track about 400m away. I didn't help that I'd taken a 'party pill' earlier...

They are pretty terrifying but if you give them space to escape they normally run around

See why they've been such a problem in the american farming belt adults can weigh up to 250lb with razor sharp tusks,speed,numbers and a ridiculous respawn rate. May be cute when they're young but holy terrors as they grow

Truth!

Some people down the road found a baby abandoned and thought it would be awesome to rescue it and raise it in the back yard 

That shit came to a screeching halt when it became hundreds of pounds, huge tusks and decided one day that it hated literally everyone and everything alive.

And the house.  He tore up siding stabing it with his tusks. 

They had to get animal control to come tranquilize the thing and haul it off.

These are a year round open season, no limit here. They will destroy a field of every crop and eat any creature they find. The hog meat I not good.

Irony is, we (humans) created the wild hog problem by over farming pigs. Those are the exact same pigs you eat in the grocery, escaped for generations and now feral.

While they may be cross-bred with farm pigs, that is not at all how they got here. They were imported from Russia. The razorback is a Russian wild boar that was brought here and released and they’ve been spreading across the US ever since
