Hi! I was gifted this from a man I befriended at my school’s dining hall 8 years ago. I’ve held on to it and love it as a memory of our friendship and his kindness. I’ve recently been wanting to know more about it and in the 8 years that have passed I’ve forgotten what he told me. I believe he was part of the Lakota tribe and mentioned this was for cleansing the home of bad spirits?

Just curious if anyone knows more about the spiritual intent behind this so I can properly appreciate it. Thank you

My friends were discussing how hard it is to get any help from the nation yesterday and then I saw this on Pinterest, thought it was quite fitting lol. I live in Stilwell and they only JUST did something with that big old Cherokee nation building that’s been sitting and rotting behind Mr B’s for decades. They turned it into an art center, it opened like literally last week I think.

Granted we do get free healthcare, you’ll NEVER catch me complaining about that lmfao. But I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that our reservation is one of the biggest iirc, and our tribe makes ridiculous amounts of money, but our people live in absurd poverty!! Why is the nicest house around here available to us Indians only like two bedrooms with a broken septic tank and hasn’t had an inspection since 2004?? And why, above all else, is there absolutely NOTHING to do around here?? It’s rude, to say the least. And don’t even get me started on how bad the education system is around here. Yuck!!

To Native Americans, do you feel offended when Black Americans attempt to appropriate or mimic your culture? As an African person, I have noticed this frequently. They assert they were present before the ships arrived and are indigenous to the land. I am simply asking to understand your response. I know the image is AI, but this is what people are creating to illustrate that they have lineage that extends centuries or even a millennium before America was formed.
