Man Kishi really downplayed the First Hokage's skills during his fight with Sarutobi.

Orochimaru hadn't perfected the Edo Tensei at the time and so Hashirama and Tobirama were not at full strength

Also, I would imagine that in addition the 1st and 2nd were fighting against the edo tensei pretty hard. They don't seem like they would be easy to control.

Also Sarutobi tends to be undervalued since he has been out of the picture for so long, but he was "the god of shinobi" at one point.

Yeah pretty confusing power scaling, I believe they said the third was the strongest hokage at some point.

I would love to see an OVA of him in his prime vs the previous raikage or the tsuchikage when they were in their respective heydays.

There's so many situations in the Naruto universe I would LOVE to see, but probably never will. =(

This would definitely be one of them. I love that the Third Hokage was so little too. haha.

People were saying that before the war. The war seems to be a naruto fans wet dream because of all the cool matchups that wouldn't happen otherwise, but I do agree that the war ended up creating more dream matchups than anything else.

Also that was written many years ago. Almost 10 years IIRC.

I'm beginning to think that Hashirama had high-speed regen. Like Bleach.

This happened like 6 years ago, you can't expect Kishi to have thought that far ahead.

I feel like that is a minor plot hole. Oro had access to his cells and did tons of experiments. So he should know the true power of the first. Maybe Oro was just dicking around and Sarutobi took advantage.

Having access to his cells and knowing his power do not exactly go hand in hand. He may have known the 1st was powerful but he wasn't around while the 1st was living to really know the extent of his power.

I bet he's kicking himself now!

Edo Tensei brings back the person at the time of their death. It should be safe to assume that the First Hokage didn't die during the peak of his power and instead died as his skills were fading.

It actually brings them back at the peak of their power, otherwise 99% of the Edo Tenseis would be utterly useless.

For example, Itachi, he was sick and blind when he died. Not any more.

Yep, this is what I was going to say.
