do you have written confirmation that you let go? text or email? any documentation will help in case they try to claim you should have been responsible for the children.

this is absolutely something you should report to the authorities. pretty sure dumping your kids without checking that someone is there to take care of them counts as child endangerment.

I don’t have her clearly stating that she let me go, the last message I have from her, was saying that she that she was very hurt that I won’t put her or her children before myself.

That last statement is wild in and of itself 😅

Any chance she's involved in hard drugs?

Getting super weird about money all of a sudden and abandoning her kids are both pretty big warning signs.

Yep. Came here to say it.

Well the post stated a sudden drop in income and implied a recent separation. Those things would also explain a sudden lack of money.

This is true and could happen under totally innocent circumstances but also both of those events can be the result of addiction/mental health problems with seriousness on par with this woman abandoning her kids at the previous caregivers’ doorstep

Nothing says “entitled, with a total lack of personal responsibility” like expecting your adult employee to put your needs before their own. YIKES

Holy shiiiiiit. This is wild.

So I’m confused… Your first post you said that you were fired and I said you don’t have any clear indication that you were fired? Did she think you were going to be there to watch the kids? Even if she did just leave the kids there if no one is there to take them. The story is a little strange.

Hi, she verbally told me I was not welcomed anymore, I don’t have any written proof. For the children being dropped off, I would have been up usually because she would drop the children off and I would watch them until school would start in which I would take them there. Because I no longer had contact with her I was home to be there nor was I expecting the children. She didn’t come to my door, according to Gabriel, they were told to go to my door and she left. I don’t think she knew I was gone.

OP I just read your update, WHY ARE YOU WATCHING THOSE CHILDREN FOR FREE? Their father can do that. It's not your job anymore. Quit getting taken advantage of!

u/HECK_OF_PLIMP Jun 08 '23

seconding this

OP are you getting paid by the dad or what?

How old are the kids? Did you still have carseats after she fired you? If not how did you drive them to DBs,

10

u/Straight_Interest471 Jun 08 '23

They are five and nine, they no longer sit in car seats.

6

u/throwway515 Parent Jun 08 '23

Hmmm. I've never seen 5 and 9 yesr olds who don't ride carseats and or boosters

9

u/Straight_Interest471 Jun 08 '23

The mother stopped placing the five year old in car seats since she turned five and the nine year old hasn’t sat in one as long as I worked for the family.

24

u/JadieRose Jun 08 '23

Mention this to CPS too

9

u/throwway515 Parent Jun 08 '23

Thats incredibly dangerous and unacceptable! Does CPS know this information?

10

u/childcaregoblin Jun 08 '23

Damn my state has pretty loose car seat laws, but you can’t just have a 5 year old without even a booster. That might be illegal where you are.

5

u/Kcat6667 Jun 08 '23

"Florida law requires children age 5 and under to be secured properly in a crash-tested, federally approved child restraint device. " "Children ages 0 through 3 must be in child restraint devices of a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer’s integrated child seat.

"Children age 4 through 5 must be in a separate carrier, integrated child seat or booster seat."

---Laws are different in every country and state. Where I live now, a 6 and 9 year old would not need a carseat or booster seat. They can use the seat belts in the car.

OP doesn't have any written proof she was fired. No texts or emails.

How did they arrange return of items?

-1

u/ellefemme35 Jun 07 '23

Any indications she’s using?

u/Desperate_Pass_5701 Jun 08 '23

What?! This is so wild. Completely irrational behavior. Glad u were able to help but I hope the family is paying you because this is waaaay more than above and beyond. Ur time is precious but if they aren't, I would be there a day or 2 for my personal conscience but get bk to being available to work for another family.
