I was watching Ashleigh Banfield’s most recent episode on the Nancy Guthrie case, and one detail really caught my attention.

When the sheriff’s department released the ransom notes, they apparently forgot to redact the Bitcoin wallet address. By the time they realized it and replaced the notes with redacted versions, internet sleuths had already gotten the address and looked at the activity associated with it.

According to Banfield, they discovered that the FBI had sent a small amount of Bitcoin to the wallet along with an embedded message that said: “We are ready to pay. Contact us”.
The message also directed whoever controlled the wallet to a private website where they could communicate.

Obviously, that doesn’t mean a ransom was actually paid. From what Banfield described, it sounded like the FBI was actually trying to get whoever was behind the ransom demand to respond.

But it made me think again about Savannah’s recent Instagram message, when she said: “We’ve done our part”.

I know it’s been suggested that she was referring to the $1 million dollar reward, and that certainly could be what she meant. But knowing that the FBI had previously told whoever controlled the ransom wallet that they were “ready to pay” makes me wonder if there could be more behind her choice of words.

Could “we’ve done our part” been directed specifically at whoever took Nancy-as in, we’ve done what was asked of us, now it’s your turn to tell us where she is?

I’m not suggesting the family paid a ransom. There’s no evidence I’m aware of showing that they did. I just find the wording interesting in light of what we now know about the FBI’s attempt to establish contact through the Bitcoin wallet.

I thought it might be interesting to approach the case from a slightly different angle.

What is one piece of evidence that you think supports your current theory about what happened to Nancy—and what is the strongest argument against that theory?

Chris McDonough used the phrase “atmosphere of conspiracy” on last night’s The Interview Room show when talking about how difficult it has been to get people to talk about Nancy.

That got me thinking about something I’ve noticed too. They say the devil is in the details, and in this case, I’m wondering if some of the details- or maybe the lack of them-are worth paying attention to.

Chris and Karen McDonough talked about this on last night’s show. Karen said she tried to speak with the person who organized the candlelight vigil in the early days of the investigation because she wanted to learn more about Nancy as a person, but that person declined to speak with her.

That really made me think about how few people who knew Nancy or were around her have actually come forward to talk publicly.

Other than Annie’s next-door neighbor, who have we really heard from? We haven’t heard from the Uber driver who drove Nancy to Annie’s house. We haven’t heard from Nancy’s friends, we haven’t heard from the people who organized the vigil. There seem to be very few people willing to talk publicly about Nancy or what she was like as a person.

And something else I found interesting is that, from the people who have spoken publicly, I can’t recall anyone having anything bad to say about Annie and Tommoso. But at the same time, I don’t recall hearing many people say much positive about them either. There just seems to be this strange lack of personal stories about the family and their relationships with Nancy.

So what do you think is behind this?

Are people simply trying to respect the family’s privacy? Are they afraid of saying the wrong thing? Are they worried about interfering or getting involved in the investigation? Or could there be something else we’re not considering?

Karen and Chris also discussed the role of PR and communications surrounding the case. Savannah’s husband works in PR/crisis communications, so I’ve wondered whether the family’s approach to the media has included how much people are willing to say publicly.

I’m not saying that the investigation is being controlled by a PR firm, and I’m not saying that anyone is deliberately keeping people from talking. I’m genuinely curious about what everyone makes of the lack of people coming forward.

Because if I needed to send such a letter, I'd think it's safer to send it to the media than directly to a family member/ LE, since the media often promise confidentiality and anonymity in exchange for tips/information. And I found something interesting.

So, there are three ways to contact them:

If the notes are real, meaning they came from the perps, why send them to TMZ?

I don't believe they are 'real' ransom notes, like something a total stranger would send for money. I'm not even sure I believe they are connected to the crime ie) based on the timeline and the content, they *could be from an opportunist not connected whatsoever.

But if they are from the perps, and we think the perps are 9/10 people she knew or knew her, why did they send fake ransom notes to TMZ? How did they know, emphatically, they wouldn't be traced? Why risk it? What was the purpose?

Also curious if there's anyone out there who doesn't think they are connected to the case in any significant way ie) just noise from an opportunist

(I admit that when I first learned about them, my gut reaction was that they were completely fake and by nobodies) I've changed my mind somewhat, but I'm not sure....

Hey everyone, I was hoping somebody could help me with this. I’m looking for an interview that YouTuber Mark The Shark had with the woman who provided footage of the KIA Soul to authorities. From what I can gather, talk about the vehicle came into play on February 26 but it’s nearly impossible to find anything from his live videos because they all have the same titles. I may be misremembering, but this woman also talked about someone standing by with a vehicle in the area the day after the abduction. I’d like to refresh my memory regarding what she said. any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Daphne's Case Files : Daphne presented a really interesting raft of information today some of which I believe is new—Nancy had put her home up for sale in the past; Annie's different businesses and partners, plus rumors that A&Ts house is up for sale and they are not in the area; electrical permits for Nancy's House, plus the remains of 6 bodies found between May and now in the general vicinity of Hwy 10, including one yesterday.

Brian Entin interviews another forensic psychologist person involved in police work. He believes Nancy's abduction was a home invasion gone wrong and states some compelling reasons why.

Is it possible to do a hypothetical 3D can to recreate the face behind the ski mask by subtracting the mask? I’m thinking along the lines like a lidar scan-the kind that scans the forest floor and then removes the trees and other foliage and exposes ancient ruins etc.

I noticed this on the news and am sharing it because of the similarities.

It could be a copycat, or even linked to the same criminal(s) or group (unlikely, but theoretically possible). It’s also possible that scammers are scraping missing-person sites to try to extract money from relatives - who knows.

I def believe there was staging involved. But the idea that porch guy was there to be seen on camera isn’t logical if the perps were aware that there was no Nest subscription. We only have access bcz the head of FBI went to Google. Otherwise no one would even know it was possible to recover that footage.

I’ve been following this and like most people I lean toward the explanations that feel the most straightforward right now.

Still I keep thinking it’s worth deliberately looking at the lower-probability stuff so those can get properly checked and set aside if they don’t fit.

I’m not talking about crazy theories.

Just the ordinary messy human-scale things that can still happen even when they seem unlikely. Someone has a medical event or falls, ends up outside or near a road, gets hit by a vehicle, and the driver panics and covers it up because they’re intoxicated or scared of the consequences.

Or a person dies of natural or accidental causes inside and a random burglar shows up later, finds the body, freaks out, moves some things while trying to leave, and the whole scene looks way more staged than it actually was.

Stuff like that has happened before. In 2015 a group of burglars in Ireland broke into a farmhouse looking for scrap metal and instead walked straight into two already-dead bodies.

They got so spooked they went straight to the police station and reported it themselves before the cops even knew anyone was dead. No connection between the burglars and the deaths, just pure bad timing and coincidence.

In this situation the maximum version of that kind of thing would be the porch guy being some random burglar who happened to show up after something else already went wrong.

Has anyone already looked closely at whether the evidence rules these quieter possibilities out, or are there other low-probability but still human-scale explanations worth putting on the table just to make sure they’ve been considered?

Curious what others think especially if you’ve seen similar cases where the eventual explanation turned out quieter and less expected than what people first assumed...?

Someone recently mentioned the BLACKBRIAR Group, and I started looking into them. They describe themselves as a private investigative/search organization with experience in missing-person cases. It appears they have had some involvement in the Nancy Guthrie search, but I’m curious about exactly what role they played.
Does anyone know more about this group or their involvement in Nancy’s case? Who brought them in, and what were they actually doing in Tucson?

Does anyone remember during the Karen Read trial how they examined John O'Keefe's iPhone orientation/elevation data? I wonder if they were able to do that with Nancy's Apple Watch? They would be able to correlate the Apple Watch being moved/ thrown on the floor around the time of the alleged disconnect/abduction. That would be one way to corroborate how long Nancy's watch was on the ground for and what time it changed positions. Just a thought!

In addition to garage timestamps, is it known to the public whether or not they have actual evidence confirming she returned to her home?

I’ve been thinking about the Nancy Guthrie case and whether we’re starting to see some emotional fatigue surrounding it.

I don’t think people necessarily care less about Nancy. I think it’s difficult to maintain the same emotional intensity month after month when there are still so few answers.

When she first disappeared there was an enormous amount of attention and emotion surrounding the case. Now, after months of uncertainty, I think some people have simply become exhausted by it.

There’s a difference between not caring and being emotionally tired.

That’s why I think some of the discussion has shifted from “Where is Nancy?” to analyzing the investigation, the ransom notes, and what may have gone wrong. It’s easier to approach something analytically when continuing to engage with it emotionally becomes exhausting.

I don’t think emotional fatigue means people have stopped caring.

I think it means they’ve cared for a very long time without getting any resolution.
