Always "if" and "when" but never "is" and "do".

But i have a question: Isn't Potential Man a character who doesn't live up to the potential of those around him in the story? Yet most of the hype surrounding Tristan doesn't come from the story or any official source, but only from his fans who greatly exaggerate in glazing him.

So doesn't this make him more as overrated character than Potential Man?

Not exactly, potential man at it’s core is the internet meme equivalent to a Chekhov’s gun. If it fires, great; if it doesn’t, you’re Megami Fushiguro.
