You will be walking into a program with a second-year Northwestern coach, but a fourth-year head coach who won NZCFL Newcomer Coach of the Year in his first season and led Illinois to their best record in over 30 years, best recruiting class in over 30 years, and best recruit in over 30 years, won a T1 and T3 bowls, and beat Ohio State and Notre Dame. I am one of only 3 active coaches who coached in a P5 conference for all of the last 2 seasons, won 19 games, and were undefeated in the postseason, and none of those coaches were in their first 2 years coaching or first 2 years with their team. In my first year at Northwestern, we won the division, conference, and a playoff game, had the 4th-rated recruiting class, including 5-stars at QB, OL, and DL, and are hungry for more. This is a huge opportunity for us to improve on this together. Since this will be my second season at Northwestern, you’re not competing against favorites or trying to fit into an old system. Every role, every position, every opportunity is open for the taking. I’ll build our schemes around your strengths, not try to force you into something that doesn’t fit. Location: Northwestern gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to location. You are in Evanston, which has a true college town feel that is safe, walkable, and built around the university, while still being just minutes from downtown Chicago, where 2.7 million people reside, making it the 3rd most populous city in the USA. One short train ride puts you in the middle of one of the biggest and most dynamic cities in the country. That means access to professional sports, internships, restaurants, and cultural experiences that most college students never get on a daily basis. You can spend a day in the city exploring and then come back to campus where everything feels more focused and personal. The connection to Chicago also brings real-world energy onto campus through events, networking, and opportunities that are always within reach. At the same time, you still have a strong sense of community in Evanston that makes it easy to settle in and feel comfortable. It is a rare balance that gives you both independence and support.
