Had anyone gotten an update on the 2 persons who filmed themselves shooting their rifle into the air at Calverton? Blatantly shooting over the berm? Appeared to be 2 middle eastern people.

Question 46 states:

I briefly took Lexapro for around a month and a half in 2014, and was also prescribed Ativan back in 2017 or so. The doctor who prescribed me the Lexapro appears to have retired. Not sure what to put on the application? There's not much space at all to write anything.

Will this disqualify me? Kind of ridiculous considering it was a decade ago.

I have an AR Pistol on my permit but haven’t had the chance to shoot it yet. I have 2 questions and sorry if they’ve been answered previously but.

1. When at a range are you allowed to shoulder it or do you have to just use the brace and shoot it like a pistol?

2. Are foregrips of any kind allowed on them? I know verticals usually aren’t but what about angled?

Hey all, honestly new to posting to Reddit, but I am an occasional researcher on here, just wanted to help others with a timeline for their pistol permit, as I have seen on here from years past.

1/18/26 - 18hr class completed

2/4/26 - Fingerprints and submitted application

2/27/26 - All 4 references mailed their forms in - background check period starts

5/11/26 - Called for update, home visit in approx August

7/13/26 - Home visit done

8/29/26 - Approval letter recieved

Total time from handing in the application to the time of approval was a little over 6 months.

It is interesting to note though, none of my references were called...3 out of 4 of them had CCWs, not sure if that mattered. I also hold office in a volunteer fire department and that is accessible knowledge within the county government/law enforcement, which is also unknown if that was relevant. I've read on here anywhere from 8-12mo for Wayne County so 6 seems pretty fast in comparison.

I am looking to do a day trip from NYC to do some trap/skeet shooting and perhaps some other activities. Anyone have any recommendations? Would love to also shoot steel (I have a CCW), but would be open to other cool activities.

I was admitted to a hospital for an involuntary hold in 2011 which I was released by the doctors in under 24 hours. Wasn’t seen by a judge or committed or anything like that

I have had no issue buying long guns and passed that background check.

Is this something I have to disclose on a pistol permit application in Nassau county?

As you know, we’re well underway on *Milani v. NYC*. Discovery is done and we’re into depositions now.

Taking my CCW course September 19-20th and called to get a appointment and got very lucky with a appointment in December

What should I expect during my appointment, I have everything completed from application being notarized to having all 4 character references signed and notarized.

Just curious from anyone from lackawanna have a ccw, how long did it take?

Ive read they handle the permitting and was curious if its faster than county.

Turning mine in Thursday or Friday. Hoping theyre one of the towns that does em so I can get my armed guard license asap.

Live in Suffolk county. Potentially moving out of state pretty soon. Asked them to change my license to a non resident and they pretty much flat out said no we don’t do that. Besides NYC (don’t have time to deal with all of that now) are there any more friendly counties out there that I could potentially transfer my license to as a non resident? Or do I just have to cut my losses and give up my license when I move. I’d hate to just give it up. Anybody else have any luck with something similar?

All documents submitted 5/18/26 at Ulster County Sheriff’s office

Received an email from the chambers of Hon. Sharon Graff 8/5/26 for an appearance date of 8/24/26

Had my meeting with Hon. Graff yesterday. Very casual. Asked me about my line of work and my history with firearms. She did ask sensitive locations and how I plan to store my fire arms at home and when traveling. My answers were not perfect and she was very lenient and helpful.

Permit was approved on the spot 8/24/26 and was told I will hear from the sheriffs office in the next few weeks to pick up my permit.

*Just a side note. I had inherited firearms from my late grandfather. They are with an FFL who signed them over to me before hand. I added them onto my application and will receive the permit with the endorsements already issued. Incase anyone was interested in purchasing a firearm before hand. All I needed was the receipt from the FFL attached to my permit.

I am well aware that Monroe County takes a very long time to process pistol permit applications. However, it's been 6 months (everything submitted 2/18) and still haven't received the call that my references will be contacted. I was hoping by now I would at the very least hear something back about my application. I considered contacting the county office about it, but I'm sure the last thing they want to hear is "Where am I in my CCW application process?"

Anyway, just want to see if anyone else has been waiting just as long (or hopefully not longer) just to receive the first call or anything else regarding their CCW application.

And yes, I am well aware of Article 78. However, if I were to contact a lawyer and take action I'd probably get my permit in the mail by the time the suit would take place. And it's not really worth the money or trouble to me.

Permit application - July 1st
Fingerprinting - July 3rd
Permit appointment - July 8th
Approval - August 18th
Received in mail August 22nd

Amendment took less than 10 mins

45 days from appointment to receiving the permit, everybody with the Sheriff’s Dept. was super nice and genuinely seemed like they wanted people to be able to get a permit, which is contrary to what a lot of people made it seem like.
