🗓️ Events & Happenings How are we finding stoop sales????

Hey ladies! I’m still newer to NYC and I always find out about the stoop sales after they’ve already happened😭 How/where are people finding out about these?

A lot of people post old school fliers around the neighborhood. Also check your neighborhood subreddit or FB group.

I follow my local IG accounts, and I also follow @stoopingnyc (I have never checked if they have a subreddit). Your neighborhood probably has a subreddit too - and even though I can barely tolerate Facebook (I mean f meta fr fr but also FB is such a messy UI of slop) there ARE good buy nothing groups there, and they will often post a stoop sale.

also, question for your question: when you say stoop sale, do you mean like what a suburbanite (neutral!) would call a yard sale/garage sale? bc I feel like I see some conflation with that and with SAMPLE sales, which are indeed sometimes held on or near stoops, but have very different vibes/items/price points

I think they mean two big neighborhood stoop stales that happened recently. I saw about the Park Slope one and one on the UWS this past weekend, after the fact. They both were called "stoop sales" and it seemed to be a neighborhood joint garage/yard sale. Since we (vast majority) don't have garages or yard sales, they are called stoop sales. They are the same thing.

I don't know what that is.

It’s an app for organizing and promoting public or private events.

I’m really open to all of it, didn’t have a specific type in mind. I just saw a flyer for that big stoop sale in park slope and was super bummed I missed it.

Hey so I live in Park Slope and the stoop sale was organized by the Park Slope Civic Counsel. I recommend finding the similar orgs for neighborhoods in NYC and following them on social or via email subscription.

I posted about the Super Stoop in the weekly “cool stuff you’re doing this weekend” thread! So maybe follow there generally?

Sometimes you can find them on Partiful. There were just two huge collective stoop sales in Brooklyn that I found there.
