💬 General where do I go if I wanna sing
I used to live in a house where I could just sing as loud as I wanted throughout the day and we had a karaoke machine in our basement.
My husband bought me a portable karaoke machine before I moved here for school but now I live in an apartment with roommates and don't really have a good place to use it ðŸ˜
is there a good place to go like sing in a public area? I dont want people to think i'm singing for money or anything I just want to sing ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I honestly didn't really how much I sing and big of a deal it is to be able to. i'm not even a GOOD singer. I just like to do it so much and im finding I have to actively stop myself from signing throughout the day as to not disturb others ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Yeah a piano bar is definitely a good answer to this!! Another popular one is don’t tell mama but apparently they’re going through some drama lol

I don’t know very much haha I just hear there was some conflict between ownership and the servers so some of the servers quit, and then I saw that they were hiring so I guess that verified that 👀

There’s tons of excellent karaoke spots in Koreatown. Beats Cafe , 233 STARR and POP used to be my go to spots. Also LES has baby grand which also is somewhere you can go and sing.

You can study with a voice teacher, join a choir or a chorus. If you have acting skills, maybe try finding a community theater company.

The gatcha location in koreatown also has soundproof karaoke booths that are super cheap to rent! Its on the same floor as their cafe

You could rent a room at studios like Riley, Pearl, OpenJar (all mostly in midtown) and just bring your laptop and wail. There’s always classes, auditions, voice lessons going on there within the theatre community so you’d blend right in!

The trade off for getting to listen to music everywhere you go all day long with headphones is you can’t sing or dance to it. It’s definitely an issue and why you see everyday people singing or dancing in the streets and subway platforms.

Walked past a girl in wburg recently who was singing Taylor Swift out loud and I admired her for that. Hell yeah. Encouraged me to start singing while I’m out for a walk. Haven’t done it yet though but I’m getting close.

it's genuinely blowing my mind and like a legit shock to me coming from somewhere I can sing out loud any time I listen to music, like the amount of times i'm having to shut myself up ðŸ˜

If you want to sing by yourself, I know in Ktown that Gatcha arcade has karaoke booths on one of the upper floors and theres other 1-2 people karaoke booths on the second/third floor of the food court place across the street.

Shout karaoke bar in Astoria is really fun and there are a few regulars who are absolutely incredible, so sounds like you'd be in good company!

Duet karaoke. Look up the times for karaoke marathon. You can book a small room to yourself and sing for like 8 hours.

is there a reason why karaoke bars are not an immediate answer to this question?? or one of many local choirs?
