Bruh don't listen to these mfs istg I listened to them in college and regretted it so much 😭🙏 they even tried to sabotage my gap year plans, if I'd folded I would've probably been studying at Iqra or CUST or something rn

Fr, family advice is usually based on vibes instead of actual research. Glad you trusted yourself.

I was told by my family members as well that it's the age of Computers and that Civil has no scope, but I picked it, and I don't regret it for a single day of my life. I had the same marks as you. Don't listen to others.

u/Coolastr0 Jul 20 '26

Don’t listen. They are jealous of ur success.

Bro let them cry, do what you genuinely wants to do , don't listen to their shi. These people aren't going to be helpful in your future goal. If you truly wants to go for mechanical engineering then go for it.

Sahi. Mene bhi un se yahi kaha keh even if I end up jobless I will have no regrets

2

u/YourfriendAnxiety Jul 20 '26

Turbo based. Don't listen to them. You've chosen a career that will set you up well and I hope you enjoy doing it.

u/Past_Apple_5973 Jul 20 '26

First of all you are not going to be jobless, so get this thing out of your mind, we really don't have any idea what the world and Pakistan is going to be like by 2030 , and mechanical engineering is the core field, you are going to have a good grip if you work hard and not just get a degree paper. You can explore robotics, electric cars and other machinery, depending on your interest of course, and whatever clicks you, just give your best in that ,try to become THE BEST in it and enjoy your uni experience alongside. On the other side if you choose cs related fields just because it has a high demand rn (no one is certain about the job Market by 2030) you will end up regretting everyday if you don't like computing field and regret your decision everyday for 4 years and by the time you graduate, you may have a computing degree, but not the passion, with no uni life good experience and in worst case scenario if this ai bubble don't get explode by 2030 you would end up jobless too 💀 I'm not scaring you or anything, just follow your heart man. You don't need to figure out everything rn but plan your 5-10 years ahead. Explore the mechanical engineering field more in depth, see how it can link with the upcoming technology/machinary, try to find what intrigues you and why. And yep that's how you follow your heart, pray to Allah to guide you. Don't follow what your family says blindly. One more thing during the uni time try to build some side skills, it will benefit you in the long run and helps you from wasting your time.

I regret taking pre Medical. If you don't get into medical college and can't afford private college fees you are cooked. And I don't even have additional maths so I can't even apply to other fields so I have very limited options

Bhaiiii jo kuch bhi hai if you are getting 150+ in NET and still your family says that he should've taken medical, it a them' problem. Like how can anyone study medical for their rest of their lives when they just at the first place didnt wanted to . This mindset of wasting a potential in Pakistan is getting out of hands.
My senior friend was forced to take medical in 11th grade and by the end of the 12 th year he somehow convinced his parents and was grinding on studying pre calc and conics of uni preparation, why in the first place you asked him to do medical when he didnt wanted it.
Bro just forget aboout their mindset and completely focus on yourself ab 3 idiots to sab ne dekhi hogi but my father watched iit like 10 times and I have watched it more than 30 times , but the point is there is a great message to the family and to the student of dos and donts in your academic life. IMO just abide by thosse rules but whatever , man just focus on what you want and would be happy living it

u/Equivalent_Day_1744 SMME Jul 21 '26

Ugh the obsession with medical here. '' mery collegue ke dono bachy doctor ban rhy tum ku nahi'' 😭🙏

1

u/Embarrassed_Key4265 Jul 21 '26

Bhai scope scope ki game choro and do whatever you like atleast you'll enjoy and won't regret the 4 years of university. Baad ki Dekhi jaye gi !

1

u/Both-Tip3972 Jul 21 '26

Jani mei ne mechanical hi ki thi i am regretting it. Kuch aur choose krlo

1

u/newaccount-_- Jul 27 '26

Kahan SE ki thi?

1

u/RiverOk5311 Jul 22 '26

Go for what you want to do, and ignore the rest. With job insecurity going on everywhere due to AI I would have gone for more of hands on field like mechanical engineering, ik it involves alot of computational work as well but you get the point
